I usually go over my fiber goal for the day, and I was just wondering if there were any negatives to that. Thanks for the input! :flowerforyou:

  • I know that too much fiber can cause gas and/or constipation... so if you notice those, you should maybe cut back a bit. I don't know if there are any other negative effects, though.

Well, MFP is kind of low in how much fiber they tell you too eat. The national standard is 25 g for women or 38 g for men. Going over your fiber goal isn't a problem at all, unless it's upsetting your stomach.

As long as the fiber is coming fom fruit and vegetables there is no problem. I am doing a vegan diet Monday thru Friday and have no problems with all that fiber. Make sure you are getting plenty of water and everything will be fine. I never have problems with excessive gas. Your body will gradually adjust.

I'm almost always over fiber & protein: it's a good thing for the most part since protein is what helps build lean muscle mass and fiber helps flush your system. Just make sure you up your water intake if you're upping fiber to help combat possible constipation and "move" things through your system easier

Keep in mind that every "body" is different - find what works for you. That does mean you'll have to "play" with your foods and combinations, but that will also help you add variance into your dietary needs so you don't get stuck in a "food rut" :flowerforyou:
