yum!
Here is a good pancake recipe I found:
1 scoop vanilla whey powder
1 egg (i use egg beaters)
dash of baking powder
1 tbsp water (more or less depending on consistency)
sweetener
Cook just like a regular pancake
I top mine with strawberries and sugar free syrup. Sometimes I will add a tbsp of flaxseed meal to the batter.0 -
yum!0

Okay....recipe I posted earlier didn't work so well for me, but I do like added chocolate protein powder to yogurt when I want a healthier, low cal chocolate "fix".
I use 1 level scoop per 1/4 cup nonfat plain yogurt along with 1 packet of sugar free sweetener (I prefer Truvia). Pretty yum to me!
I also like to top with 1/4 cup of fresh or frozen (thawed) blueberries, strawberries, or mixed berries (no sugar added).
Try it, I think you'll like it!0 -

Bump! I have been wanting to try some protein powder, but wasn't sure which one to buy. I will probably get some from Sam's Club if anyone has any recommendations, let me know! Thanks!0

@Housetroll: I was diagnosed with hyperinsulinemia a few months ago, so I've been trying every kind of protein powder under the sun. My fave so far is Syntrax Nectar. It mixes up smoothest, without the gritty texture a lot of them have, and it comes in a dozen different flavors. You can order it online, and I've found it at several of my non-chain local nutrition stores as well as at the Vitamin Shoppe chain.0

If you like those fancy Starbucks coffee drinks (you know, those desserts disguised as beverages? the ones that are horrible for the diet?) I've found a great substitute. Syntrax Nectar Cappuccino-flavored protein powder. Mix a couple of scoops with a handful of ice and a cup of regular black coffee.0

I have two smoothies I rotate between.
Chocolate Cherry Smoothie
Chocolate Soy Milk
Frozen Spinach
Frozen Cherries (or other berry)
Vanilla Brown Rice Powder
Coffee Smoothie
Coffee Ice Cubes
Soy Milk
Agave
Vanilla Brown Rice Powder
nice way to get my protein in frappucino form. lol0 -
Protein powder pie:
Crust:
1 cup chopped pecans (pea-sized chunks), 2 T melted butter, 3 T splenda or other sugar substitute.
Mix well & press into bottom of 8” pie pan.
Filling:
8 oz. cream cheese. For a lighter, French Silk consistency, use whipped cream cheese. For a more cheesecake-like dish, use regular cream cheese.
Half pint (16 T) heavy cream, whipped
2 scoops chocolate-flavored protein powder (or more… to taste)
Mix well and scoop into pie pan on top of crust. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Other options:
Can be made with any flavor of protein powder (chocolate, strawberry, cherry).
Also makes a great frozen treat. (Try a frozen strawberry pie with a few sliced fresh strawberries on top!)
