things to do in edinburgh - go and see historical buildings, like the castle/ holyrood/various old churches. wander around the new town, or the old town, discover the difference between the two. Socialise (without drinking alcohol - thats ok) in one of many pubs or if your more like me find a nice tea room! (theres one called frederick street called eteaket which is pretty good.
theres good art galleries and museums. and theres always a theatrical sow of some description to go and see (but if the arts are your thing you should come in agust for the festival!
the main shopping street is in disarray at the moment as the scottish parliament are over spending on a rediculous tram project. you should go there and start a conversation which a local about it - they will be animated in their response. but the gardens down there are beautiful! nice and green in summer and host a winter wonderland at christmas time.
( i love living here)0 -
I was born in Scotland on the beautiful West Coast..... lovely scenery, friendly people but the weather can be miserable. Great place to visit......and I love to get back whenever I can as I have lived in the States for 25 years now.0

Hi
Am from Northern Ireland, but living in London...can very much recommend a trip to the emerald Isle (although you can't always count on the weather - but the warmth of the people should make up for it).
I will biasedly recommend the North Coast as it is my home, and stunning in any weather0 -
I'm from Glasgow...now living in Vancouver. Feel free to add me as a friend!0

You guys are SO lucky to live in such a beautiful place. I live in the USA but I am completely and TOTALLY obsessed with all things Irish. I have a huge photograph over my fireplace of the famous "Dark Hedges" in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Absolutely stunning. Sadly, I have never actually been to Ireland. I had planned to go this summer, but the friend that was supposed to go with me had to cancel due to a family emergercy. I am so terribly disappointed!!! I also have several framed photographs of Irish castles in my home. If I could live anywhere on this earth, Ireland would be it.0

I live in dublin in Ireland and there is lots of things to do. Lots of sights to see and you will have to of course visit 1 or 2 (or 6or 7) Irish pubs for a bit of fun when you do get to visit. There is alot to see I dont know where I would begin to be honest.....! Best of luck!
What's the village of Stepaside like? The lead singer of Def Leppard lives there. I just wondered if it was a sort of "uppity" type of place.0 -
