Made these rich and velvety brownies.came out raised and puffy in the center with a smooth, glossy crust. much creamier then any I have made with applesauce

3/4 cups flour
1/2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder lie Van Houten
pinch salt
1/2 teaspoons baking powder
4 tablespoons unsalted butter (recipes says butter, I left it out actually)
2/3 cups Sugar (I used 1/2 cup)
1 Large Egg (recipe says 1 whole +2 whites, I just used 2 whites)
2Egg Whites
1 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
2 tablespoons Coffee Brewed
1/2 cups fat free greek yoghurt
1/4 cups Semisweet Chocolate Chips
+ I added a pinch of cinnamon which was not in the recipe

1/4 cups chopped Walnuts optioanl

**Before beginning, butter and coffee must be at room temperature.**

Preheat oven to 350? F. Line an 8-inch square baking pan with aluminum foil; spray foil lightly with cooking spray. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa, salt and baking powder. Set aside.

With an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar at medium speed for 2 to 3 minutes, or until combined. Add egg, egg whites, vanilla and coffee. Continue beating until incorporated.

Scrape sides of bowl down with a spatula and reduce mixer speed to low. Slowly add flour mixture, followed by yogurt, and mix gently until just combined (batter will be thick). Stir in chocolate and walnuts, if using.

With a spatula, spread mixture evenly in pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center of pan comes out dry. Cool on a wire rack before removing from pan and slicing into 16 squares.

I definitely will be trying these. I'm such a chocoholic. I think I will bake and freeze some for emergencies. :-)

Asalen yes I used walnuts in mine ...

    Nutritional information:

    16 servings per batch
    50 calories per brownies
Fat (if you use the butter - but less if you omit the butter) 3.66g
    Carbs 3.53g

more can be found on the orginal recipe

Additional notes - I used whole wheat flour when i made mine but the orginal recipe says all purpose flour. You can sub Splenda or stevia if you like ... would be even less cal and also use egg sub/flaxmeal instead of the eggs to make this vegan
