Is walking alone 30 minutes 3 times a week and no other excercise enough to make an impact?

No, you need to be walking every day. 3 days a week is a good start if you have not been working out and exercising, but after a week or two, you need to add time and days. The good news is that when you do, you get to eat more! LOVE IT!0

I agree. It's a good start if you haven't been doing anything. But eventually you will want to add some more.0

Hi GaoLee:flowerforyou:
First, is that one name?
Let me tell you a story 'bout myself. I am a grandma and I walk with a cane, so the only exercise I could do is "walking'. It was awful how hard I tried and I couldn't get out of the house to walk, but with support from friends here at MFP, I forced myself to "DO THE WALK". I should also add, I have an artificial hip and bursitis in the same leg.
Yes, 30 minutes for 3 times a week is enough to make a difference, because I went shopping today and I really was able to walk so fast, and hardly even bothered to use my cane.
So, start at your own pace, keep at it, and if you feel like you want to walk a little further, or faster, do what is comfortable for you, but keep trying.

Follow Greenys advice: start slow.
I was fit 6 years ago. Then I slowly put 40lbs on.
When I re-started my fitness quest 5 months ago, I could barely manage 15 minutes on a treadmill or elliptical machine, 3x a week.
Now, I'm up to 25-30 minutes every day, plus weights 2x a week. Eventually, I need to find time to increase from there.
Funny thing, my neighbors/friends were moving a few weeks ago, and while their friends were dropping out (better things to do/didn't wanna expend the effort), I volunteered to help. For obvious reasons.
Welcome, and have patience with yourself.!! :flowerforyou:0
