I gotta know... What type of underwear(if any) do you wear for running? I'm torn between comfort and VPL, and going commando seems a bit...sweaty.

What do you do?

Thong, but that's what I always wear, anything else feels off

Can't wear them personally :blushing: -- I wear tights. I do have one pair of runderwear  they are made by Under Armour -- I will wear them if I feel like I need to otherwise I will put shorts over the tights or long shirt or vest.
  • I run in tankini bottoms. I had trouble with normal undies either riding up or slinking down. Not a real commando person. Swimwear solved all problems and were already in the drawer.

Always have and always will--- go commando :)
  • I wear boyshort underwear (girly boxer briefs) when I work out. It's what I normally wear.

I just use boyshort-style underwear. They said on the package that they don't ride up, and at first, this was true! =) Now, I think it might be time for some more! =)

i always have to wear the shorts that are lined with the panty; therefore, no panty. :)
  • Since I wear volleyball low-rise 2.5" shorts to work out, I wear victoria's secret PINK's boyshorts.
If I wear long form fitting pants, sometimes I do not wear underwear, or PINK's boyshorts.

I hate to admit it but I have to wear brief style undies in order to avoid wedgies while running. Normally I wear "hipster" or boyshort styles but they don't stay in place when the booty's shakin. :)

I truly don't understand what the big deal is about VPL when working out (I've seen it come up multiple times).

There are just times when a girl needs to wear whatever is comfortable and running is one of those times!
  • what is "commando"?
    cammouflage colored underwear? military pants?

Thong, but you know there's a big difference between your hangout everyday wear undies and the ones you workout in. Prime example, lace undies... probably not the greatest idea. Learned that from years of experience, you just gotta find out what's right for you.

Honestly...? Commando. I have yet to discover something that doesn't chafe, so I just ditched them all together. :P

I do the boyshort underwear that's in girl panty fabric - gives me some extra support and total butt coverage!

What is VPL? Stands for Visible Panty Line.

I have three primary options depending on how hot it is out:

If I'm in running tights, I wear my Patagonia Active hipsters. They don't move. EVER!

If it is hot out, I wear the Nike running shorts with the panty built in (Can I just say that I LOVE these? I haven't had a running wedgie in months! Chub Rub? That's a different story!)

    Or, I go commando.

do you have Bonds brand where you live? i wear the cotton, really unsexy sport undies from them...dont really care about the VPL to be honest when i'm running, so long as they dont ride up my *kitten*....i look like a hot mess anyway, when i'm sweating and red in the face, the VPL is really the least of my worries!

I've just Googled these to see if we can get them in the UK, as they sound like just what I'm after, but they're £24 per pair! That's about $30ish. Is that right?

I confess that I go commando. It's only in the last year or so that I've started doing this. I figured that all of my running shorts and skirts have panties or shorts attached, and it just seemed like undies added an unnecessarily sweaty layer that I had to peel off. My husband is shocked ('cuz I never go commando any other time) but I'm happier with less on.

You can find them on sale at different sites. I think I saw some ot this style on clearance in other colors for $12 US. I've found them at REI, Backcountry.com, and Sierra Trading Post. I actually bought them for back packing and hiking trips as they can double as bikini bottoms if we find a nice waterfall, and dry very quickly without the 'butt itch' like cotton panties.
  • COTTON BLOOMERS aka GRANNY PANNIES!! I HATE Thongs, will NEVER wear them.....

Cotton is hte worst though! Doesn't wick anything away and WILL cause chafing!
