I'll be having a baby in February and will have 2 kids under 2. I don't imagine I'll have time to go to the gym and I don't have a machine. Can I really lose weight using workout videos? I do have weights so I will definitely be doing those but what about cardio? Does anyone have any good weight loss videos they would recommend?

I don't know, but I would like to find out. It's getting here and I'm thinking my weekend runs are no longer going to happen. Having a video that worked would allow me to keep working out.0

Of course....
You can lose weight simply watching calorie intake....but you may be jiggly...since toning is a huge aesthetic perk.
It's all about dedication...occasionally doing it, like any workout, isn't gonna get results....it's consistency.0 -
I triple LOVE video's! I have Sweatin' To The Oldies 1-4 and mix them up every week or so.0

O heck yea, honey!!! You get your heart rate up, you sweat your butt off.....YOu're toning you moving and dang!
Machines and gyms are great, but so are videos. You just have to allow yourself to get into it and push yourself.
But, as it has been said MANY times before: the way you eat has more impact on weightloss. It is possible to lose weight without excercise. But, working out and eating well are the #1 way to be successful.

OMG yes you can.
It's also easier because you don't need a babysitter and most of them can be done when the kids are napping. I'm speaking from experience on that one, but mine are teenagers now. Do you have a Mommy group that does "play dates" because that's another option.
I would highly recommend you visit Beach Body they have some Awesome videos. I have the P90X program which I love.
Have you gone to any sports equiqment resale stores like "Play it Again Sports"? You can usually find nice stuff for a decent price. Also check Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target because they usually have decent equipment that's compact. You can probably pick up a small stepper for under $70 or a manual treadmill for less than $200
I hope this helps and good luck on delievery day. Lets us know what you have:bigsmile: :flowerforyou:0 -
Most weight loss/exercise vedeos feature ONLY CARDIO. So you won't have to worry about finding one. And yes, if you have a space for doing them, time (while the babies nap), and willingness, there are tons of videos that will work for you if you do them properly.
The trick of it is finding the right video for you. Something like Tae Bo with Billy Blanks looks like a lot of fun and it is, but it takes a few weeks to get all the moves down, but once you do, you're burning like 500 clories in 45 minutes! There are easier going ones: Zumba is one that the ladies swear by. The nice thing about these videos is that they can be found by the hundreds in thrift stores every where for about a buck apeice, so you won't break the bank picking up several to 'try on'!!!
Me, I can't do a workout video because I don't have my own TV and VCR to use. Anytime I want to do video workouts, the TV is being used for PS2 or TVviewing, and/or there's someone asleep in the living room. When I got sneaky and thought I'd use the computer to do them, that's fine, but there's almost always someone at the computer. And even if that weren't the case, it seems like when I put a video in or download a video from youtube, I have a frikkin' audience. So I only use it to do Yoga on Saturday or Sunday EARLY mornings.0 -
After my second I lost a LOT of weight working out to videos... get a bunch so you don't get bored. Or swap with friends if you can't get a bunch. Some libraries carry them as well...
You can do it from home!:flowerforyou:0 -
I use Taebo videos and also the Jillian Michael's Shred and the Biggest Loser Cardio Max and Power Sculpt DVD's. They are all really good. Congrats on your growing baby! How exciting!

I did Power 90 (P90) which is a fully designed program of strength and cardio... it helped me shed 25 lbs. Since then I've used other Beachbody programs and have continued to excel in health and fitness... and have dropped more weight.
They work if you do them as laid out. They don't work if they just collect dust on your shelves
I've tried lots of 'em, though, and I love them all... so I recommend it... as long as you stick to your guns and do the workout schedule (as well as watching your food, of course) you will have success.0
