So my boyfriend just isn't supportive of me getting fit and healthy. He likes to torment me by eating all the fattening foods in front of me. (It doesn't bother me, I have grown to have some pretty good will power) Well anyways now he is telling me that once I reach my goal weight I am going to leave him. He refers to himself as a "stepping stone" till something better comes along. I hate his negative attitude about EVERYTHING. I just wanted to vent.

I'm curious to know what, if anything you're going to do about it. I have limited patience for dumb behavior, and that seems to describe your boyfriend's attitude.

I'm sure he'll come around if you find the right way to present your new lifestyle to him. I think its kind of flattering he thinks you could be better than he deserves. Just tell him how you feel, and ask him to join you.

A little bit of insecurity is normal in this situation.

Or you could try hitting him.

Ok, that last line made me laugh!!!!

Or, you could just tell him "there's nothing stopping me from leaving you now, now is there???" If you haven't left him yet, maybe it's because you don't plan to? Just a thought. Good luck!

Unfortunately a LOT of people do not like change and only consider how it will effect them. Not the most mature of attitudes, but again this is pretty common. His insecurity is coming out.
He needs to be reminded that it does not matter what is on the outside, you are with someone because they appeal to you on SO many more levels than that.
  • You are a fit, young, and pretty young lady. I would say take some time for yourself and your family. I hate to keep it real, but in my life, I love the people who support me and release the people who bring me down. Take care girl, just my opinion.

You probably will leave him. Even if he was to complement you how much would you appreciate it? What will happen here is that you will start getting complements, and all kinds of attention, and he will see the way you light up when this happens, how you get all happy and excited. Then he will sit there and wonder why you don't do the same thing when he says something, so in his mind you obviously don't think much of him anymore. When he starts getting mad at guys flirting with you right in front of him, you will think he is just being an idiot, so you will do it more, then it will cause a big fight, and you will dump him and go screw the first good looking guy who smiles at you thus crushing him completely.

This is a story that is repeated over and over again, it happens all the time. I'm not trying to be a mean here, I'm just telling you how guys think, and how many of the men and women out there react to these situations. If you have a creative mind you can find ways around all this. I'll give you a hint, actions (and reactions) speak louder than words.

    Good luck
