blood type?

Has anyone ever done the "eat right for your type" diet? I got the book for type O (me) and A (my daughter) and have been trying it for the past week. The O is almost like the South Beach Diet phase 1. A is opposite so it makes dinner time rough. My daughter is the one who really needs to lose weight and SBD did not work for her as it did for me. Just wondering if anyone has had success on it.

As a biologist, I can't say it makes much sense how an antigen on red blood cell's affects what you need to eat.

This diet makes no sense. There is no reason that your blood type will affect the way you respond to certain foods.

THe only thing I can say is I follow the 'eat for you blood type' but don't consider it a diet. It merely helps me to have less mucus, indigestion, flatulence, better assimilation of nutrients, etc. As for using it to lose weight, I doubt it would have any significant effects. For optimal health, however, I strongly advise it.

I tried the blood type diet 8 years ago and had some pretty good success with it. I got injured and wasn't able to stay with the plan, but while I was on it I lost about 25 lbs. I am also Type O, I wish you the best of luck with it.

I've read the book & have the cook book. I am also type A but I never followed the diet per se. What I did do was incorporate the highly beneficial foods in to my diet and slowly cut out the foods to avoid. Currently my diet is more of an ovo, lacto, pesco vegetarian - rich in legumes and vegetables (high fiber, high protein & low processed carbs). Occasionally I will eat chicken breast but I try hard to stay away from red meat. I thought the book made a lot of sense but to me it wasn't practical, especially if you are trying to feed more than one person with more than one blood type at each meal.

    Cheers
