I think I have this fear in the back of my head that if I eat all my calories back that I earned while exercising that I would get used to eating so much and would make the mistake of eating that much when I don't exercise.

Anyone else have this fear?

Yeah I know what you mean.. I eat my calories and then on the days I dont exercise I never feel like I have enough food!

Generally I work out 6 days a week with one day free, on that day normally I eat not to lose weight (not exceeding my calorie count e.g.1750 calories) just so I dont feel like Im punishing myself for having a day off exercise.

I went for awhile without eating my exercise calories, got excessively tired and was sore before I began my workouts and never seemed to feel fully rested. So I began eating my calories and the difference in the enjoyment I had in my workouts, my energy levels and general feelings of well-being increased alot.

I really recommend you to eat your exercise calories! And dont stress too much on your day off! Remember its a long process and your not going to gain any weight as long as you dont eat over.

Its so easy for food and exercise thoughts to dominate your life... Trust me I know! Look at the bigger picture, food and exercise are parts of life that are meant to be enjoyed! Dont forget to keep living

I'm not sure I feel like that, but on the days that I exercise I feel like I'm eating way too much. I earned an extra 400-something calories today, but I can't finish them off. :ohwell: I'm soooo full!!! lol I still have over :noway: 200 left to eat. :noway:

Today I was distracted by trying a new exercise and earned double the amount of calories I usually do... Its 8 pm and I'm not hungry and I have 600 calories left! (so sometimes I have that problem also)

If you're not going to eat your exercise calories, you risk putting yourself eventually into starvation mode, doing physical harm to your body, and slowing if not stopping your weight loss. Try eating some PB or something like that. A couple hundred calories isn't hard to make up and you really need to eat them. Try making up over 4000 in a day--that's what I burnt up on my 100 mile ride. And yes, even though I didn't track food that day, I bet I eat at least 80% of them. PB and honey sandwiches and bananas will add up quick!

If you don't want to eat your calories, then don't exercise as much as at all. You really need to exercise for general health and toning BUT it's not needed for weight loss. MFP gives you a deficit that will accomplish that--so cut back on the exercise until you get to an amount you can make up for per day or don't do it at all. Better to not do it then exercise and not eat--the latter way you will be starving your body.

Yes I have this fear! I dont do heavy exercise, I burn about 300 in cardio and dont count the strength training in my cals burned.

Sometimes when I get to the end of the day, I have to choose between exercise and eating the 300 I will burn. I always choose exercise, because it is good for my overall health. My doctor told me weight loss is wonderful, but moving your body is good for your heart, lungs, even your brain!

I think we have to see what works for OUR bodies. If you are losing weight with only eating part, then do so. If you go 2 weeks with no weight loss you will know what to do!

Good luck! You are doing great:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
