The sometimes forgotten hidden benefits of being overweight.

This morning was doing some squats with 30 lb weights in each hand. As I was huffing and puffing and cursing how heavy those weights felt it occurred to me that this is how much extra weight my bones have been carrying now for several years. This also means that my bones are all the stronger for carrying that much weight extra, my ligaments and muscles also to allow me to still move about. Maybe even my heart might be stronger for pushing all that extra blood. These stronger bones, muscles, etc. are going to really come in handy when that weight comes off and I galavant about with ease. In contrast all our super skinny compatriots have none of these initial benefits. Clearly I have found the silver lining. So a happy " Well done, strong bones" to all my fellow overweighties:) WE do have something to celebrate. (and now back to getting fit and dropping that weight:)

It's all about the way you look at it.

OMG!! How true that is, I guess I never really thought about it that way. Moving better and breathing better now by carrying around less weight daily but the fact that for so many years I did carry that extra weight daily and somehow got through... Wow, thank you for that little something to think about... I know I appreciate so much more all the things I can do now that I wasn't able to do for so long... Remembering that is one of the things that helps me stay strong and keep going on this path to get healthy and strong again... Thank you

I love this idea! Between my calcium pills and all this weight I've been carrying, I shouldn't have to worry about osteoporosis until I'm at least 100 years old! Thanks for the day-brightening thought:smile:
