Is spaghetti squash supposed to be crunchy?

Or did I not cook it long enough?

I've never made it before tonight. It was about a 3 pound spaghetti squash, cut in half and deseeded, then cooked cut-side down in an inch of water in a 350 degree oven for 40 minutes.

It tastes fine. Just wasn't sure how soft it's supposed to be?

It is supposed to be a little crunchy, at least that is how my wife makes it.

It has a little bit of a texture to it. It's not like noodles. Yummy stuff!!
  • No, mine is never crunchy......I bake it at 375 for 90 min covered with foil in a baking dish with a little bit of water......cut the squash in hal and place half side down........the last half hour remove the foil.....turn squash over.....I spray with no cal butter spray and bake for another 30 min or until tender
