Anyone tried 10 minute trainer?

Saw an infomercial about this. 10 minutes seems like it's not enough time to burn the calories, but I like the idea of using the resistance band. I posted a topic about wondering how to slim down for an already semi-muscular person, and was pondering this exercise system. Says it won't let you "bulk" up. The people they used as a success story seem for real--just wondering if anyone in this circle have used it and what the results are. If it seems to work, I might just close my gym membership (and save some needed money) and try this thing.

I'm not using the 10 minute trainer but I'm using P90X created by the same person. I'm seeing results and I'm not doing the full program due to problems with my knees. Hope that helps
  • I have just started the TMT, (done about 4 workouts). I really like it. You would probably get results in just 10 min. a day but I think it would take a long while. You can do what they are calling an "accelerated program" which means that you actually do three 10 min workouts in a row (30 minutes total) By the time I've done the 2 cardio workouts I am dripping in sweat:ohwell: I am not in great shape to start with but my hubby has already noticed slight changes in me. I considered the P90X but you would have to be in pretty good shape to do that one, I've seen the infomercials for it and they scare me:noway:

The only thing I have a problem with is the upper body workout; you need to attach the resistance band to the middle hinge of a door (not a perminant attachment but what you need is included) within eye sight of your TV in order to easily follow & do the excerise. I do not have a door near my TV so I have to improvise by stepping on one end of the band to anchor it in place. I there is one move that I just can't do, so I do push-ups instead.

It is a fast & furious workout, each 10 min. workout is broken into 1 minute excercises so you don't get board.

If I had to rate it I would give it a 4/5. Hope this helps.
  • Hey guys

10 min trainer. u have to understand the idea first. Its something known as circuit training.

You design 4-5 exercise which covers all your body parts. eg pull ups, push ups, deadlift, lunges and snatch

Now you do these with medium weight by which you can do 10 reps easily.

So you do 1exercise, without rest you move to the second one and so on. so after you have done all the 5 exercise you take 30 seconds rest and then start the second circuit.

Its the MOST effective way to burn fat, new studies have suggested burst training, where instead of jogging for 15 min, you try running at full speed for as much as you can, rest for a while and do it again.

These burst burn more fat than rythmic runnin on a treadmill or studio cycling.

I am trying the same, just today my wife has notced some change :)

You just described P90X -- same concept and each DVD is at least 50 min long. Awesome workout

You will be moving up to P90X in no time. I wasn't in any shape when I started and I can almost keep up with them. I getting ready to start week 3

I have been using TMT for a couple of months.I had been very active before that (running, biking, working out), but couldn't lose those last few pounds. Since starting TMT, I have dropped 10 pounds, 2.5 inches off my waist. (of course, part of the work out is that I come to MFP and track my diet, so that brings an increased level of eating discipline). The work outs are intense, and you do get faster results doing 2-3 consequetively rather than limiting yourself to a single 10 minute period, but, and this is the part I like, if you are really pressed for time, you can get your ten minutes in, which is better than doing nothing. As far as slimming down an already muscular build, it is more of a high rep, low weight type program, more aimed at toning than body building. You can vary the intensity by the degree of resistance band you use, and how close you stand to the door

Thanks for all the posts. I'm still up to hear more from others.
I'm wondering, though, since I'm in fairly good shape if I should shoot for the Power 90 (PX90?) or however it's called, or keep it simple with 10 Min. Trainer. My goal is to lose 20-25 lbs., although since I'm already muscular and am medium-boned, I don't know if I can get down to 125 again. I'm actually shooting for a size 7. So--PX90 vs. 10 min. trainer results out there?

I haven't tried Power 90 or P90X yet, so i can't compare them, but I chose TMT because I thought it would be easier to fit into my running schedule, with the plan to 'graduate' to P90X after the holidays. In retrospect, since I generally 'stack' workouts anyway, the Power 90 or P90X wouldn't have been that much more difficult to fit in, and may have been a better (ie more intense, more structured) program. No regrets tho. TMT is a good workout.
