I have been feeling so sluggish lately, I know this sounds gross but I'm also constipated, bloated and just plain sick to my stomach. I gone off dairy, drinking lots of water and eating lots of fruits. Anything really with high fiber. I've heard of the "Lemon Diet " which consists of lemon juice, cayanne pepper, maple syrup and water. Your only suppose to do it 10-14 days because of the lack of nutrients. its definantly not a long term thing. I'm just wondering if anyone has done that. I wanna know if its worth doing and if it does what its really says its suppose to do. I just want to feel healthy and good again:ohwell:

lemon juice, cayanne pepper, maple syrup and water?? Euufffgghhhhh  Sorry darling ~ sound more like one of my grandmum's notorious 'spring tonics' ~ the kind where you lose everything you've eaten for the past month and have an intimate relationship with the loo for about 3 days  :noway: Except for the maple syrup, the individual ingredients have health benefits ~ like lemon juice is high in vitamin C and potassium, cayanne pepper is high in C and antioxidents and of course, water is a necessity of life but all of them together?? Euuufffgghhhhh  I'll pass, thankyouverymuch0

I saw a thing about it on BBC America. Two journalists were trying to get to a size 0. They tried all kinds of kooky crazy things. One of them did the lemon thing. She was starving all the time, and was happy to be eating the pulp in the bottom of her glass when she was done drinking. I wouldn't recommend it.
Your body needs a variety of nutrients, and just eating/drinking one thing is not going to give your body what it needs to thrive.
Stick with healthy choices for food and drink, add in some exercise, and you will start seeing the benefits of healthy living. If you still have the digestion issues, you may want to talk to your doctor.0 -
There is not enough calories in that to support your daily activities, and you would be better off just taking some exlaz or something for your constipation. Why don't you just go a couple of days of eating a ton of high fiber food. Like fiber one for breakfast, raisins for snack, whole grain toast with tuna salad and green beans for lunch, bran muffin for snack, grilled chicken and broccoli for supper, popcorn for snack. It should loosen things up.0

there are herbal cleansing products available at your local health food store and also cleansing diets that are very specific on foods but you'll at least be getting some nutrients that are so badly needed.
I worked for a company Gaia Herbs who offers a Supreme Cleanse - 3 steps of herbal "treatment" works great but a tough one to get down if you are sensitive to taste and texture. I know there's a bunch of others out there too.0 -
There have been partakers of detox fasts that involve juice only with one small meal of either fruit or vegetables which is supposed to cleanse you, but I wouldn't recommend at 10-14 day fast. Aside from the fact that you probably wouldn't make it that long, it's dangerous without supervision. Three day fasts are probably more do-able and safer, and produce pretty much the same results.
As I have said before, there's nothing a fast can do for my colon that a good enema and a laxative can't. And it's faster. And my family doesn't risk death due to hunger!0 -

Eww no I wouldn't recommend trying that. Its not worth it, and will cause you to be hungry all the time and your body won't be getting enough calories (energy) that it will result in you feeling even MORE sluggish than you are feeling right now. I would just try eating fruit and veggies, that will help with constipation. And also eat a lot of turkey, chicken and salmon, eating things like that will cleanse your body the natural way, you don't need any lemon diets:happy:

Fiber is good to produce bulk, but you don't want TOO much fiber. A large bolus of fiber will move very slowly through your intestines and create a lot of gas. Keep drinking the water and go out for a brisk walk. The rhythmic motions can help speed transit. If nothing else works, take a non-stimulant laxative. 'Detox' diets don't do anything but deprive you of calories. Your liver and kidneys detox you, not your diet.0

I actualy make this every week and drink it like juice...I HAVE done the cleanse...but DO NOT do it for 10-14 days....only 3-4 DAYS MAX if you go too long without solids your insides will not like you afterwords. I asked my Dr. and she said the 3-4 day thing.......maybe ask YOUR Dr. before starting anything?!
I would like to try Colonex ( i think that is the name) one day.
:flowerforyou:
I forgot to mention that IF YOU do loose any weight it will come back later....remember your emptying your intestines and they will fill back up seeing as you cannot live off cayenne lemonade for the rest of your days.:drinker: When I did my research I found a story about a man who was ill and refused to eat, all he drank was the lemonade and he passed on within a month....google search: Master Cleanse to find the story.0 -
trust me I know what your going through I am constantly locked up and in terrible stomach and back pain-- high fiber foods dont do it for me I even upped my fiber content- I drink plenty of water and basically everything i eat just sits there- I even stopped weighing myself cause I cant go to the bathroom- maybe you should see your doctor and get a referral for a gastroenterologist thats what i am doing laxatives are just quick fixes but dont solve the problem- good luck0

"I saw a thing about it on BBC America. Two journalists were trying to get to a size 0"
This always makes me laugh, who the heck invented size 0 anyway, it isn't a size, it is nothing. If you aren't any size at all, you don't exist.
I know some people are really tiny, and I am not making fun of them, it is the designers that created the nothing size, maybe to make normal people feel huge and hope they can someday become nothing too???
sorry I know I didn't follow the question asked, but I couldn't help it0 -
I read somewhere, that a 16 oz glass of lukewarm water first thing in the morning at least 45 minutes before you have anything else can make a big difference in cleaning your system out, I have tried it, and it has helped me when I have tried to get rid of bloat and constipation. I try to make it a regular morning thing, hard to get used to warmer water though It won't hurt.0

up your exercise and change the routine, drink lots of water! Works wonders for the body:flowerforyou:0

Also, while you're doing the higher fiber PLUS higher water consumption, try a couple magnesium tablets. Works like a charm without the waiting and cramping of laxatives. It works, but only long enough to get you regular. I was the same -- stopped up and felt like only dynamite would clear the pipes, but that magnesium -- NICE JOB! Then after the first few times I used it, I became regular.0

See a doctor or certified Nutritionist. There are no quick fixes. Your body needs nutrients. You can do serious damage to your body and your health by these types of "cleanses" "detoxes" "fasting" etcetera.
