Hi,

I have just switched from a Suunto t3c HRm to a gramin FR60. The first thing I notice is that for the exact same workout I burn fewer calories as reported by my Garmin. The Suunto HRm would report around 1000 calories for an hour of cardio whereas the GArmin reports it as 800+.
Which one should I go with...I am confused

1000 sounds a little high to me for an hour of anything, but it also depends on how overweight you are now. the more xtra pounds you're carrying now, the more you burn when you work out.

ya a 1000 is a lot but my cardio workouts are pretty intense...I am not over weight, carrying a few kilos more than I want to but ya it doesnt warrant such a huge calorie loss.
It is possible that the Garmin is more accurate than the Suunto...however using the garmin with a cadence pod on my spin bike...the calories shoot up past 1000...and Ive noticed that even though my heart rate is lower if I pedal faster (at a lower resistance even) the calories start shooting up. As opposed to doing a very tough hill where my heart rate shoots up but speed is low the calories burnt are significantly lower.
So this again does not seem accurate to me...I mean it should take into account both the Heart rate as well as the cadence not one over the other...
so not sure what to think...
