I watched a Dr. Oz episode where a Dr. Chopra suggested meditation as a help for weight loss. He said it would help mindless eating and up your will power. Because I think it cant hurt... Thought I'd share the techniques with you. I also put this in my blog...
First you sit in a relaxed position, concentrate on your heat, things you are thankful for, and things you love. Once you feel totally relaxed, you'll know when you are there... then you ask yourself four questions:
1) Who am I? Don't try to answer it... just think about the question for a while.
2) What is my purpose? Again, don't try to answer it, just concentrate on the question.
3) What do I want? Again, don't try to answer it, just concentrate on the question.
4) What makes me happy? Again, don't try to answer it, just concentrate on the question.
Yes, I know it sounds corny... but doing this... it really changed the way I received information from others. I noticed that when others said (what I might have at one time construed as "hurtful") was no longer effecting me in the same way. I look at things differently. Also, my priorities have shifted. The "volunteer" activities seem more dispensable, less overwhelming, and even my work hours are put into perspective... less invasive in my "me" and "family" time. I'm not just a worker bee for others, but rather I allow myself a certain amount of time to do those things, within my schedule. I actually have control over my time.
I hope you too have success!

Yes, I meditate and listen to self-hypnosis weight-loss meditation CD's at night, my favorite: Splendors of Meditation for weight-loss. Its all about the MINDFULNESS of eating as opposed to mindLESS eating.
good luck and happy eating!
