Blood Donation

I'm donating blood on Thursday, and I was wondering what I should eat in the days leading up to it/ the actual day. I have donated blood before and have done fine, but I'm afraid that maintaining my 1200 calorie/day diet would not be safe.

Also, I take a multi-vitamin daily, so I know my iron will be alright, and I drink over 8 cups of water every day. Thoughts? Thanks!

just make sure to drink plenty of water the day before and the day of, and eat lots of healthy protein the day before and the day after...
  • It's important to eat like an hour before you donate blood. Never donate blood on an empty stomach. Trust me, I did it before and fainted. Eat a lot of iron rich foods that day and lots of water and you should be fine.

Stay hydrated, and make sure you eat something an hour before. Otherwise, just eat normally.
