as ive lost more an more weight I've come to discover that I use my ink and piercings as a way to hide myself. Sure it brings more attention but I feel that is what they look at and then it was the fat not that I don't enjoy my ink and piercings because I love them! I'm just curious if anyone else has hidden themselves like I did oh fwiw I have both sleeves and my Lower legs are done. Piercings I've stretched out my ears to 1 1/4 inches

HAWT!!
I bet your new bod actually makes the tattoos and piercings look even better!!!0 -
I only have 2 tattoos so I can't same the same.
But, I do plan on getting more. It's such an addiction! [and an expensive one at that!]
Good luck to you and congrats on the 31lbs you've already lost!0 -
Just to be honest, I don't think I'm a pretty girl and I think my ink makes me prettier.0

10 more pounds and I'm getting a nose ring, 15, I'm getting a tattoo!0

I feel like I was just always meant to be tattooed. With every new addition I feel even more comfortable in my own skin. I'd rather wear my art on my body than on my t-shirt.0

They look awesome right now and eating healthy is giving me that healthy glow which makes them stand out even more ;-) when I hit my goal weight and then maintain for 1 yr I'm starting my back piece0

I agree, you're stunning!0 -
That was something I thought of when I was getting them done...I have short sleves on both arms, a large piece on my chest, several on my back and leg, and a very large one covering most of my right thigh..from knee to hip...I think it is kind of a distraction of my weight, makes me feel confident and they are definitely conversation starters lol That is the only thing that will get me any attention at a bar lol:drinker:0

I have a different take, I won't get my second tattoo finished until I'm at goal weight because I believe the art needs to be accentuated by a healthy body. I don't think anyone wants to see my rolls as the art frame.0

Thanks. :blushing:
I want sleeves and hoping to get at least one more when we go to my parents for Easter. I only have my nose pierced. I had my lip done too but was allergic to the ring they put in and pulled it out with a pair of pliers. Ouch.0 -
Yeah I've taken out my piercings for work just have my ears left and it's funny 90% of strangers ask if I'm a tattoo artist lol0
-
Yeah, my piercings boost my confidence.
I have my belly button, my nose, my cartilidge, and I'm about to get my lip.
No tattoos yet.0 -
Tattoo will be my reward for reaching my Goal Weight.0

What's funny is that I always told myself that if I got to a healthy weight from where I was at I'd get another tattoo (I currently have three). But after losing almost 50 pounds that I'd been carrying for most of my adult life and seeing what it's done to my skin and body, I can't even imagine finding a place to put a tattoo anymore due to saggy skin and my stretch marks being so much more visible now. Plus my brain is just imaging how any tattoo would end up looking as I got older and time ravaged my body even more.
I'm thankful that my current ink is all in spots where the skin is thin and wasn't fatty areas so none of them were affected by the weight loss. (which was actually part of the thought process when those locations were chosen initially and why I stopped at just filling those areas. lol)0 -
tattoos make you who you are. i dont think i hide behind them, just cant wait to get more. with a better bod of course!0

ROFL. My father in law's ex girlfriend/baby mama has her ex(or maybe still) husband's name tattooed on her shoulder and my father in law's name tattooed on her neck. He told her if her trashy *kitten* got anymore names she'd look like she'd be NASCAR racecar.0 -
i have mine on my hip. its pretty much on the bone so hopefully not too much damage will ever come from having a kid or two. i got my belly button pierced when i was 19. had it in for almost 6 years and it randomly decided to get infected. its been about a year or so since and i'd like to get it redone once i lose some more weight. i only want one more tattoo..angel wings around the shoulder blade area.0

I don't feel that I've gotten my tattoos or my piercings to hide. It's just part of who I am. I do plan on getting more, but want to fix the work I currently have before starting anything new. Need to get down to the weight I want first....then it's new ink time! Yay!0

I never get a chance to get a good tan and always end up with the farmer tan, so my goal is to just cover my upper body from my elbows up and down to my waist. I have one half sleeve done and the other is on its way and starting a back piece later this year. I feel like I haven't really been comfortable showing my tattoos until recently so kinda the opposite it guess. I don't feel like I'm hiding behind them, but I will feel better about showing them because of the weight loss, almost like being heavy was making me hide or not show my tattoos. I also have my chest pierced and I'll be more excited to take my shirt off when I put some muscle on. I dig the gauges, but wouldn't have them myself, just not my thing. I actually have been making them out of wood for a bunch of tattoo artists lately. The biggest ones were 1-7/8".0

Unless it's your kids I just don't get the name thing. I love my husband and I think I'll be with him forever, but I really honestly believe if I get his name tattooed on me (or vice-versa) it will inevitably end in disaster. I used to date a tattoo artist and one day I was in his shop and an 18 year old kid came in to get his girlfriends name tattooed on him. The ENTIRE staff was trying to talk him out of it with the girl standing right there. One of the artists even offered to draw it on him everyday with a sharpy if he wanted it. He still got it. She had some really long name too, like Natasha. I wonder how that's going.0 -
