Going out to dinner to a Punjabi Restaurant. I know nothing about this kind of food. Do they have salads? A primarily vegetable based entree/apetizer? What's the lowest calorie/healthiest thing I can expect to find at a place like this? Thanks everyone!

Punjabi food, like any other Indian food, is created to enjoy.
Rich, Nutritious, delicious. Traditionally, Indian foods have been like that for various reasons (I will not get into that for now
). Only very recently, Indians have started becoming very health conscious.
So, you might be able to pick and choose "right" food items. You could also find a good spread of salad items and fruits, but may be less choice.
So, I would say - select right food items, enjoy, come back and work it out...Afterall, you are not going to eat in an Indian joint everyday.
Hope food is good. Enjoy. ATB0 -
Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately, I've been reading and it looks like this restuarant is really unhealthy. Umm... is it okay to not eat out at restaurants? I'm looking at this Punjabi restaurant... and everything online looks like it's just baked and fried in grease and butter... my friend really wants me to eat out and said she'd buy, I declined, she insisted (she's tired of me not eating out)... I'm definitely going just to enjoy the company and conversation of everyone - but I don't think I'll order anything.. it's honestly just gross and fried... is this weird?? Why do other people care whether or not I eat at restaurants??
If other people want to go to restaurant, I tell them in advance no problem but I probably won't order anything - trying to save $/and dieting. I've always been like this. If there isn't something reasonably healthy on the menu, I generally don't eat out. And it annoys some people. I don't get why it's an issue. I mean, it's not like I care that other people like to get drunk and smoke marijuana for fun. It's just not my thing. I have plenty of friends who are into that kind of thing. But drinking isn't my thing and I rarely drink if ever - sometimes a small sip just out of curiousity. So... if I let other people do their thing... how come I can't just do my thing?? Am I being rude??0 -
Hi Cassie,
I think you are perfectly alright if you are that way...It is just about what you are and being firm on that. True friends are supposed to understand that and respect that. If not, it is flimsy. You are going out of your way and being social as much as you can. That should be respected. Friends should also undertand your needs and even show that they understand that.
So, be the way you are. You are cool.
Coming to thsi Punjabi food place - some times they can look dirty and gross. They sometimes seem like that, and sometime truly are. So, avoid if you are not comfortable.
If you happen to be in India and especially Bangalore, give me a buzz, I would more than happy to take you to some really nice Punjabi and other ethinc food places from India.

If your friend wants you to go out so bad, she should let you pick the place.0
