FitBit?

Hey all,

I was thinking about getting myself a fitbit so that I can see how I am sleeping. I have Fibromyalgia, and generally don't go into REM sleep. I was thinking that maybe this would help give my doctor a better idea of how much sleep I am actually getting at night. Thoughts?

I have a fitbit and I do use to track sleep. However, it only really tells you when you wake up during the night. It doesn't have the capability to chart the sleep stages. I don't think it truly accurate but gives you a picture of how you sleep. I didn't buy it for this - I bought it so that as I move into maintenance, I could gauge my daily caloric burn and know about how many calories to consume to maintain my weightloss. Hope this helps.

Oh, I know it doesn't do that. I just thought it might be helpful for him to know how many times I wake up a night, and how much I move around to decide whether or not he thinks something to help keep me asleep would be beneficial. Its and idea we've been kicking around for awhile now.

I have a fit bit and the sleep function is nice but not always accurate. From my experience, it does well tracking how much I am moving around, if I am tossing and turning a lot it will show that when it syncs to the computer the next morning. But sometimes I don't think it reflects how long it really takes me to fall asleep because if I lay there for a few minutes-it thinks I am sleeping when really I'm laying still wishing I was sleeping!
But for general movement during the evening, I don't see why not. I have to say, I love my fitbit. It is great for becoming more aware of steps and general activity levels. It has become a new challenge of mine to see if I can beat my total steps or calories burned for the day!
