wondering about exercise cals

let me start off mt saying i always eate my exercise calories or came close to it because my daily cal goal is 1200.
but i was just thinking about something, until i had my daughter and had weight to loose, i never counted calories, never exercised intentionally and pretty much ate whatever i wanted..that doesnt mean i had mcdonalds everyday..but i had a lil bit of everything, never worried about it.. so anyway, the ONLY exercising i did was walking, i lived in brooklyn and pretty much walked everywhere..it wasnt for hrs a day but at least an hour on average, maybe a lil more somedays, and because i was just walking to work, i didnt call it exercise and i obviously didnt eat back what i worked out..and im sure now, thinking about what i ate, i probably was around the 1500 range unless on felt like ordering out or stuffing my face. and i didnt gain weight and stayed in shape and maintained. so i just wonder.. if back then i didnt eat my exercise cals, didnt feel any different and stayed the same,if not loosing a pd once in a while, i wonder if eating my exercise cals now is what i should be doing. i dont loose weight, ive been trying for over a year and have lost like 5 pds an di think there alot of different factors contributing to that but it was just a thought..the fact that i never ate back what i burned and was fine and now i do and it doesnt seem to be helping.

Looking at your diary..if it is accurate looks like you miss quite a bit of tracking and if you do track you are quite under your calories. You should never be below 1200 NET. I bet once you up your calories a bit and continue to eat exercise calories you will see a difference. I have 7lbs to lose and although I expect it to be slower I upped mine to 1560 and since then have lost almost 2lbs where before that (eating 1200-1300) I was at a stand still.
ETA: Before kids... I could eat big macs daily and I never exercised at all. I was skinny my whole life (120lbs) and because of that diet and exercise were not in my vocabulary. In order to eat exercise calories I would have need to exercise..lol. Since kids I put on 50-60lbs and I am almost back to my just before kids weight. I was a little to skinny at 120lbs so my goal is 130lbs.
It sounds backwards but it works.0 -
