About how much weight had you lost before people started to notice?

Just wondering. :)

Thanks for your feedback!

-Oh yeah, and if we're not already friends, add me. :)

it really depends on how much you have to lose. nobody noticed on me until i went out and bought more clothes that actually fit me properly.

I'm small framed so people started noticing once I hit the 5 pound mark.

I would say about 40 pounds. It was winter so I did wear alot of sweatshirts. It is a little harder to tell then.

It took about 55lbs before people other than my family to notice, my family noticed it sooner. I was just writting on my home page about taking pics each month and not being able to see the 62lb difference in myself! I take pics every 4 weeks and to me I don't see any change but other people do! I would have to say though, it depends on how much you have to lose, if you start out at 315lbs like I did, then it's going to take longer for people to be able to tell. One sure fire way I know there is a difference is how my clothes fit and the measuring tape. Not to worry, the weightloss will be notice sooner or later! good luck!

Between 30 and 40 people started to make a lot of comments. Getting clothes that fit made a huge impact on people commenting too!

When I initially lost my weight, it took about 30 pounds before people noticed -- and that was after I had finally bought a pair of jeans that actually fit me (in the same size I wore in high school 30 years ago  )

I think it depends on what clothes you wear and how your body is put together. It will be different for each of us.

Around 30 lbs was when people who don't see me every day started to notice. It was 40 or 50 lbs before people I see all the time noticed, but, like others have said, I think that was largely because I didn't buy any new clothes until my pants were practically falling down to my ankles when I put them on. Once I started wearing new, smaller clothes, I got comments all the time.

It's funny because I've lost 80 lbs over the past 15 months, and someone I see nearly every day just now said something about it a few days ago. The way he said it made me think he had noticed before but never wanted to mention it. You have to remember that some people will be super excited for you and will compliment you as soon as they notice, but some people will either be jealous or will think you might be offended if they comment on your weight (this is especially true about men, I have discovered), so they won't say anything.

Pounds are relative to your starting weight.....For me about 35 lbs, which was just under 10% of my starting body weight.

Only a few people have said anything about my weightloss. Some of my family & a class mate of mine, are the only ones who have really commented on seeing a difference in my body. And it took me losing about 15 pounds before they ever said anything.

I seen my cousin last weekend for the first time in about 5 months. She told me that her & her husband was on the Atkin's diet & that she had lost 8 pounds. When I told her that I had lost 25 pounds, she looked shocked. She said that she didn't even know that I had gained that much. But actually the last time I seen her, I was @ my heaviest. I guess by being so taIl (5'9"), I hide my weight. Which is good, but it would be nice if others would notice. And they will in time, just as I'm sure more will notice your weightloss.

Good luck to you during your weightloss journey!

I have lost 14 lbs and the only people that have noticed are those that don't see me often. The others see the gradual change so it's not as noticeable to them.

One or 2 people noticed about10lbs. It was winter and like someone else said you wear bigger clothes and can really blame them

When I've lost around 15 to 20 lbs I've noticed something very curious.
Around people (not my family or friends) that would see me everyday and didn't know I've started a diet they were kind of afraid of asking most likely because they thought I could be sick or something. Same case you don't ask a woman if she is pregnant unless you are 100% sure she is.

Some people would look at me and comment that something was different (most about my hair which didn't change, only got a little longer) until one day I finnaly said maybe was my weight lost that make my hair looks bigger and fuller since my face is skinnier

Now after 37lbs, everybody know :blushing:

I wouldn't consider myself a "success story" yet, but I have lost 42 pounds and am getting close to my goal. Started at 195 and now at 153. People really only noticed when I made the jump from 170 - 155ish in 3 months. From here on out, every few pounds I lose is pretty noticeable. When I was bigger 15 pounds was not substantial. I expect these last 15 pounds will be a huge difference.....

It seriously took about 50lbs before people started saying things to me. I didn't buy new clothes for a long time and the fact that I had lost weight was hidden behind baggy clothes and uniforms. When I started to wear clothes that fit, lots of people noticed.
  • I don't know when people started noticing, but they started commenting after about ten pounds :) then the frequency of comments increased at 20, 30 etc. But now I've been skinny for so long (since 2006) that most people I know don't realize I used to be bigger! :D

it all depends on the person, really. I think I heard from a lot of people that generally the smaller and the less weight u have to lose, it doesnt take much to for people to start noticing.. I havnt lost no more than 10lbs i kno and i was getting people telling me how thin i was getting already and i was like hmm haha but i guess cause im not really that overweight so it takes less to notice on somebody smaller. so for me, its already been noticable w tenlbs or less but thats prob not the case for everybody!

When I was at my highest it was a good 25 lbs before I got a lot of compliments. This time around I got noticed at 7lbs. When I was wearing clothes that were form fitting.

    smiles :)

I'm having this problem now, too. Meeting new people is strange now because when we go out for drinks or dinner and they see how careful I am about what I order, they don't understand why I'm on a diet. I look totally normal and healthy now, so they look at me like "You're not one of those high-maintenance, constantly-on-a-diet-because-you-think-you're-fat" girls, are you?"
