Hi. I'm new to this site.... Has anyone noticed that it's harder to lose weight once you get older?
I know it sounds silly but i think i work out way more now than when i was in my 20's & the weight is sticking to me like gorilla glue? Any suggestions?

Definitely not silly AT ALL. I've struggled with extra weigh all my life. I am 35 and when I was in my 20's I was able to lose weight pretty quickly. I agree it is definitely harder to lose as we get older. We gotta hang in there though and persevere...it will come off soon enough.

I am 27 and have a hard time losing weight, my mom is 58 and loses 2-4 pounds every week and a half. So I am not sure how much age is pu into effect really.0

NOT silly at all! If you look at the calculation for basal metabolic rate, it uses your height PLUS your current weight LESS your age! So the older one is, the less calories they need just to exisit.
(BTW, when you sign up for MFP and plug in your height, weight and age it does the BMR calculation to determine your daily calorie need! cool.)

I'm 46 and God, yes it's harder to lose as you get older. But you'll find living proof of people's success right here on MFP. It CAN be done. IS being done here everyday!0

Sometimes I wish I could travel back in time and kick young me in the *kitten* for making me work as hard as I have to to lose the weight young me put on. In high school I was a little heavy my junior year, but lost it with ease the summer before my senior year. Today, at 48, I am losing it pretty fast, but I am really pushing my body pretty hard to do it.0

I am 60 years old and I agree that it is so much harder for me. It seems to take forever to lose and one bad weekend to gain it back!! But by tracking daily even when I have a bad day...I find it so much easier now to just get back on track. I also have my diary open because I feel like I am more controlled since I know people will see it! LOL Welcome...it will be fun!!:flowerforyou:0

I'm 58 and have lost 28 pounds in the last 7 months. I lost weight 20 years ago, and yes, it was easier! But I'm smarter now (thanks to MFP) and I'm losing the weight in a better way and becoming much healthier. I enjoy eating my exercise calories and I enjoy exercise because I can eat my exercise calories! lol I want to lose another 10 or 15 pounds and it may take me another 3 or 4 months, but I'm convinced that this time I'll know how to keep it off.0

I am 54 and having a hard time lossing weight as fast as I remember it comming off. I lost 100 lbs 10 years ago and it just fell off. Now I am dieting and excerisings and the process is slower than before, but I am lossing and if it takes a little longer oh well that is ok with me. I didn't put it back on over night so I might as well not think I can take it off over night. (Trying to loss 75 lbs by November but not sure how I am going to make that goal) Godd luck and if you want to friend me please do0
