I was weighing everyday, but now I am just doing once a week. Even when I did weigh everyday, I only recorded it once a week. And even if you don't see the numbers on the scale move, you could be losing inches, which I think is better than pounds!

I'm addicted to weighing every morning. But the only one I get excited or anxious about is my Monday morning weekly weigh in. That's the one I log and the one I use to judge how things are going. My weight can vary by 2-4 lbs from one hour to the next, so I can't afford to get worked up over every fluctuation.
  • once a week. every sunday morning i weigh in. once in a while i will weigh myself other times during the week

I do once a week. I get too obsessed and stressed about it if I do it everyday. It's very normal for your weight to fluctuate throughout the day. It's the reason I don't use my Wii Fit as much as I used to... it shows you how much you weigh each time you check in. It was making me way to obsessed about every little change for the worse.

i sometimes weigh myself every day (can't help it!) but i try not to let the little ups and downs bother me and only "count" monday morning weigh-ins. if its TOM, i skip that week. hope this helps!! :D

Stepping on the scale every day, at the same time (ish), but I don't always check the readout (Got a Withings scale so it's being logged). Only registering new weight here once a week though.

Weigh yourself as much as you like.... just don't get upset at the higher numbers.... only take pride in the low ones. A low measurement in the morning can brighten and motivate for an entire day. Don't put too much stock into a measurement if it ends up a pound or two higher, it isn't a big deal.
  • i weigh myself every morning, but I'm starting to think that's a bad idea. my weight varies from day to day (water weight) so sometimes it gets me a bit depressed when i see the numbers higher than expected.

Weekly is best. Always in the morning before you eat, same clothes (or lack thereof)

My biggest problem with the "weekly" philosophy is that 1 bad weekly measurement could screw you up mentally for your entire week... and possibly put the entire project in jeopardy... if you get depressed enough. I think a daily measurement that is a bit higher is less likely to destroy your confidence to the point that you quit.

I step on it everyday but only log it once a week.

Then say if I'm not happy with the number then I'll work my butt off before Friday (log day). And if I've had good numbers all week then not so good on Friday I'll know it's probably just a bad scale day and won't feel too down in the dumps!

I usually end up weighing 3-4 times a week but only log successes. Thursdays are my "weigh-day" or my re-evaluation day. Weekends are sometimes hard for me (less routine) and Mondays are usually the day I can get myself back on track. Give me 4 days of being on track and I can feel pretty good about things. If Monday were my weigh day I'd almost always be discouraged and would likely give up pretty quickly.

♥ As you I have become SCALE OBSESSED!!!
I was weighing in alomst everday and I just got to pissed off and depressed when the #'s went up and then back down. Now I'm weighing in every other week. Keeps me motivated and gives me something to look foward to.. I still have my weeks where i'm weighing once a day... I think it's just human nature when you someone starts a " Diet" We want the results right away.
    Good Luck!!
  • i weigh in every friday morning..dont step on the damn thing again till monday and i use that SOLELY as a guage to kick it up a notch (which i usually need to do since i love my wine) and then i step on it again wed, again, SOLEY as a guage and then do friday weigh in...it totally helps the mind set if you dont let the fluctuation get the better of your mind. i use it as a tool for my week. does that make sense?

Tuesday morning for me. The only time I step on it midweek is if I know I've had a bad day (ie. the "Olive Garden" day) and I need a kick in the pants to recommit.

I get on it every day to keep myself motivated but only "weigh in" on MFP when I reach a new low. That weigh, I know where I'm at, I keep an optimistic perspective on it, and I'm always shooting for a new low on my way to my final GW. Works for me pretty well, psychologically.

I weigh in once a week, but every morning I find that I step on the scale. I feel as if it keeps me accountable to myself.

I weigh in everyday but only record it once a week. I just look at what it says and walk away. I use the days I have gained as extra motovation lol If I have lost its a huge moral boost!

I weigh myself every day but only record it once a week (Saturday). Our weight can fluctuate during the week so if the number is a little higher than the day before don't freak out. If your clothes are fitting more loosely and you are losing inches that means you're on the right track, even if the scale says differently that day.

I weigh in once a week. I'd do it every other week, but don't have the patience to wait that long to see what's happening. Weighing in more often the once a week is counterproductive for most people as daily changes in body weight are normal and its frustrating if the number doesn't seem to always be going down. This can be especially true for women, as our monthly cycles cause swings in water weight - huge ones for some women. It pays to track your weight changes against your cycle as well as over time in general. Also, I findit best to always weigh in on the same day at the same time - first thing in the morning, without a stitch on (can't blame the clothes).

I do the same thing. Weighing myself everyday and at different times of the day just helps me know how my weight fluctuates and I notice what kind of things have an effect on that number on the scale. That way if I see a sudden jump of a pound or two I don't freak out-lol. I only put a new weight on MFP when I've dropped a pound or two and kept it off for a few days.

I get on the scale EVERY morning!!!! I am really good at getting my water in, its all I drink, and have been drinking for the past 15-20 years or so,,,,but I find that fluctuation helps me get the extra into me that my muscles may be holding onto because of a heavier workout day, or perhaps my sodium levels going up......if I near 1000 I need to up the water,,,,just keeps me more accountable for what I'm doing, either good or bad,

good luck, just have to do what works for you

I'm a scale *kitten*...I weight just about every day just out of curiosity. If you do this, though, realize that you don't gain and lose weight as fast as you see it fluctuate on the scale...it's probably just water weight because your body naturally varies in weight even from morning to evening.

As far as what I actually count toward my weight loss goals, I only record my Friday morning weigh-ins. I think it's fine to weigh every day if you don't let it discourage you, but if it becomes and obsession and is affecting you negatively, I would say no more than once a week.

I don't own a bathroom scale. I only weigh once to twice a week, and I use the Wii Fit Balance Board. It logs it for me I can set my goals, and its part of my workout routine. I made sure when I started working out to set up routines to track progress, so on workout #1 of the week = I take and record measurements, on workout #2 of the week = I take my weight... etc. However, this week will be off, because I am going on a work trip so I will do my workout on my off days, and I will move around my stats information so it will stay as close as possible to the days I normally take them. The measurements have been more helpful, then weighing myself anyway.
MFP has helped me keep all the data in one place which is nice.

I weigh myself 1st thing every morning to keep myself honest. I don't skip even if I had a bad day as it shows me the impact of my actions. The biggest thing is to understand why you are stepping on the scale and to not get down on yourself when it fluctuates. I don't get upset if I am up a pound or so but know that I did my best the prior day. But, weighing every day keeps me going strong towards my end goal.
  • i used to weigh myself everyday and it came a slight obsession to check after i got up in the morning. then i stopped because i just couldnt be bothered as i found myself getting frustrated. now i aim to weigh myself once a week when i get up on a certain day, as i can see through the week if ive lost any. ive learned now that i cant get frustrated or upset if i gain some, i then now i just need to try harder!
