I have struggled sooo much since I hit a plateau. I had my baby in January, and lost all of the weight I had gained during my pregnancy, and about 25 more. But I am not losing any more weight!! I am already on a pretty healthy diet, and work out.. even though I could definately work out more.. I'm just not losing any weight! I'm getting discouraged, because I don't think I'm going to make my first goal (Lose 15 pd.s by May 20). Any tips or ideas to help kick start this weight loss thing again??

Are yoiu eating all your calories, including your exercise calories?

If not, sounds like your body is in starvation mode

Most of what I have read and maybe someone will chime in...has been to up the calories for a few days and change up the exercise routine to help the body kick start the weight loss again.
  • You could eat 200 more calories on ONE day and then continue with the previous diet after. If you can, do a little more cardio with more intensity too.
  • I'll try that. I try to eat my calories, but I've never eaten very much to begin with. I have started snacking a couple times a day, but I will definately eat a little more for a couple days.

If you open your food diary, people might be able to give you some pointers. :) Good luck and don't give up!

Are you drinking sufficent amount of water?
Are you getting enough fiber? ( 28g per day)

If you open your diary up we can see what types of food your eating and might be able to help you more?

Also, I disagree with the person that said "you have to eat all your exercise calories" - I do not and have been pretty successful, I also asked my trainer and doctor about this and he siad as long as your not going to bed hungry there is no need to feed your body those extra calories - just make sure your getting enough food to help your body gain energy throughout the day.

On another note, I have read the calorie-cycling has helped many people get out of a pleateau. As well for me Low Carbing helped me HUGE and helped me get back on track to losing 2lbs per week.

    1. How long have you been stuck?

    2. Obviously it would be helpful to see your food diary as most issues come from what/how much you're eating.

    3. Are you breastfeeding? That won't stop you from losing, but if anyone is going to give you advice it's something that they should know.

Here are some thoughts that should help:
    1) Try not to eat more than 40% of your calories in carbohydrates.
    2) Try to eat your calories from non "packaged" foods.
    3) Be sure to drink your water, adding pure lemon juice is a plus.
    4) Add 30 minutes or more of exercise in a day... try different exercises every other day.
    5) Eat complex carbs, drop sugar.
    6) Drink green tea
    7) Try to eat all your carbs before 5:00.
    8) Be sure to eat all your fiber!
    9) Try to relax (Stress makes it harder to lose)... maybe meditate or try yoga.
    10) Be sure to eat the number of calories that MFP suggests.
