so after MONTHS of clean eating including no red meat and plenty of fresh fruits & veggies...I had a planned Splurge on Easter.... I decided that I would not break family tradition and since I went "home" I would indulge in all of my childhood comfort foods...so I had a burger or 2 from my local hamburger joint... Chinese food from the place that cannot be duplicated and a bunch of southern standards ( rich mac & cheese, collards, yams, turkey, dressing, etc) ... and lest I forget the desserts....

Oddly, most of this stuff tasted HORRIBLE to me.... not any fault of the cooks, its just as if my taste buds rejected it.... but whats worse is, my Body's reaction...

granted, I always swell when I take a long car drive but....my feet and hands immediately swelled up like balloons ( My hands are back to normal... my feet have gone down a lot but not totally) and I feel gross... Ive had several BMs since then but I feel gross still.... Ive been drinking lots of water...

today I'm drinking nothing but water & herbal tea ( except for my normal oatmeal breakfast)...

Any other suggestions to stop feeling so icky????

There is really nothing you can do except what you're doing...teas and water...it should go away within a couple more days.

I know of nothing but letting your system flush it out and helping it along with distilled water and tea. (There is anecdotal evidence that distilled water will bond with 'toxins' better and help them flush out of your system because it has NOTHING else in it).

But it definitely says something when you can feel so strongly the difference between what you have been eating and what you used to eat on a regular basis.

    Hope you feel better soon!

Also, remember this feeling so when you're tempted to do it again you can remind yourself. This happened to me with a work party and I felt awful for a couple days--exhausted, sluggish...it'll pass, but what a good endorsement for what you've been doing, right?

I have heard exercise helps reduce bloating if you are feeling that way.

Or you can visit a sauna/steam room if you have access to one! Or take a really hot bath.

Man, now I want to do all of these, haha.

I recently indulged in things I haven't in a long time (beer, wings, Easter ham, chocolate, pizza) I don't know what got into me, but 5 out of the last 7 days have been completely off my plan.

So, I have also come to realize that I don't get the same enjoyment out of these rich foods OR restaurants. I think I'd rather spend my money on new clothes and excersise gadgets. No regrets - now you don't have to wonder anymore. You don't do that anymore, and neither do I! :)

This same thing happened to me! I decided to fast for twenty four hours and I'm feeling better. I may decide to go a little longer because I'm still not feeling hungry. Which was the whole point. I hate walking around feeling like a balloon. I think time is the only thing that will make things go back to norm. This was a lesson learned for me.
