Steady weight for a year. Help.

About a year ago I had a weigh and tape after a PT test and weighed in at 146. I had no idea I had gained so much and the army says that's over weight. So, I took it upon myself to loose the weight and got down to 120 lbs. I was very comfortable with that for a while and then I decided I wanted to get in even better shape. I would start working out and eating healthier but would never see any results. After a few weeks I'd get discouraged and give up. Then I decided maybe I could try a weightless supplement. So far I've been taking it for a week, working out, and eating healthier, and still I have had no results. I don't get into details like counting calories and such, because I don't care too. I think focusing in on how many this and how many that, will just discourage me more.
I am 21
5'2"
120 lbs
And I have a 'pear' figure, I guess. (Not really sure how to figure out my body shape with those silly fruit pictures) I guess I would best describe my body as hourglass.
I would really love to get rid of the flabby areas around my thighs and arms and tone my core.
Please help me.

I think it takes more than a few weeks to build up your muscles. What type of workout are you doing?

You are at a healthy weight, so maybe focus more on exercise (weights, cardio, whatever)?

And why the supplement? A calorie deficit and exercise should do it without the need for pill-popping, which is only a short-term panacea anyway.

Your profile says you want to lose another 30 lbs---is that right? That would put you at 90 lbs. Pretty low. It is hard to lose as you get closer to goal. There is very little room for error. Since you don't like counting calories it's going to be hard to do. It also takes longer---you'll need patience. Many will suggest that you start lifting to lose that last "jiggle". You might want to think about it. Best. :)

If you want to lose weight, count calories "and such" whether you like it or not. In the long term, even if you don't weigh and log food forever, you are going to benefit by measuring your portions and counting calories now. That's because you will be educating yourself on proper portion size and meal planning. Taking a weight loss supplement just teaches you to swallow pills.

If you want to get in shape, exercise and be patient. You aren't going to see the weight fly off in a few weeks. You aren't going to see a lot of muscle definition in just a few weeks either. Again, think long term because physical fitness needs to be an ongoing effort not an "exercise until I like what I see and then quit" kind of thing. Because when you quit, you are going to go back to your old habits and be right back at the beginning, fat and out of shape.

5'2" and 120 Lbs is a healthy weight...you say you want to lose another 30 Lbs...that's very unhealthy. Note also that being "in shape" has nothing to do with dropping another whatever pounds...you exercise to get in shape.
  • Maybe I should have been more specific and updated my profile. I honestly jumped on here just to get a few answers. Most of you seem very negative.
    1. No, I don't want to lose another 30 pounds. 15 at the most.

    2. I have been working out and trying to lose this last 15 for the past year

    3. I DO WORKOUT DAILY
(I also have no choice on working out since I am in the military and it is part of every morning wether you want to or not)
But I also do my own workouts at home.

    4. I also lift weights and include weights in my workouts.

    5. I understand portion control

    6. I am not fat and out of shape and have maintained this weight for about a year

    7. I decided on the supplement to help kick start whatever it was that was holding me back

Isn't this supposed to a supportive group on which we keep each other positive and help each other instead of sounding disgusted at each other? Just because I don't count calories does not mean I can't lose weight. Maybe some more positive comments and specific reason I'm stuck at this weight would be much appreciated!

Thanks to the genius who quoted this:

You asked for advice on this, a calorie-counting site, and then told us you don't count calories and don't plan to. We tell you what works for us.

I'm just saying. Counting calories works. If you don't want to think of it that way, think of it like "keeping a food diary" or whatnot. If you're not losing and you work out, you're consuming more calories (energy) than you're using. Period.

ETA: Or taking in as many calories as you're using, of course, if you maintain weight.

If your question is that you want a
specific reason I'm stuck at this weight
the answer is you are ingesting more calories than you are burning.

Counting calories and exercising is what works for me, so I don't have any advice. Sorry.

Well, that was a fast deactivation. I guess I'll post this anyway since it's written.

OP, if you're still lurking there is some solid advice above. If you're not losing weight, it's because you're eating just enough to maintain your weight. Your maintanence calories are likely slightly lower now that you've lost a significant amount of weight.

If you lost weight with portion control and switching to healthier foods - that's great. However, the weight you're looking to lose now is just vanity weight. I'm not saying that it's not possible or worthwhile, but vanity weight is hard to shed. It takes dedication and accuracy.

Looks like you need to step up the accuracy at this point to see further success. That's usually what it takes to get those last few off.
