Diet only weight loss?

Does it even seem reasonable to lose weight without exercise? I have been recommended to consume ~1500cal to lose 1.5lbs a week. Is this reasonable or too low? I try to be active but I have a desk job 5 out of 7 days and the only exercise I get is during socializing and walking out and about during lunch.

Yes you can lose weight without exercise and yes that is probably reasonable though without knowing your stats I can't say.

the majority of people on here work full time and still make time to work out...

1500 cals sounds fine - as long as you're in a deficit you'll lose weight.

Yes, a calorie deficit is all that matters but make sure you are getting adequate nutrition with your macros and aren't netting lower than your BMR.

You CAN lose without exercise, but the overall finished product will be much nicer with.

But what is wrong with exercise?
  • It's not that I don't exercise (weekends and evenings) I just don't have as much time as I would like to.

hmmm. People make time for the things they want to do. You just don't like to exercise that much. I exercise average 7 hours a week. This week I am already at 6 hours and I still got two work outs to put in.

It is absolutely possible to lose weight without exercise. You will find, however, that most people will recommend exercise of some sort so that you are healthier when you reach your eventual goal weight.

You can lose weight without exercise but should get in exercise for good health. You don't have to do it all at once. Break it down into little chucks. I also have a desk job. I walk up and down 5 flights of steps twice a day a few days a week. On other days, I eat at my desk and use my lunch hour to walk outside or inside to burn calories.

yes you will lose weight I lost 20 lbs on just diet alone. the problem is when you don't exercise you don't build muscule. muscle helps you burn more calories and keeps you tone. with just diet a lone you get soggy weight lose with exercise you will help tone and firm and have that tight body.

Well, just excercise when you can/ when you want to - and eat calories accordingly.
    - You will still lose weight :)
