New to jogging . I just start the first week of C25K...My muscles are sore but I'm keeping up...however when I get near the end of the 20 minutes I get a sharp pain just under my right rib cage, which goes away fairly quickly after I end my routine...is that normal? If so what is it?

Yep. Called a side stitch. try to relax your breathing and shoulders. Stretch your side/lift your arm over your head. Just a sign of your body not liking you making it move. They will get better and go away as you and your lungs get stronger.0

Someone told me this once, so take it with a grain of salt... but hope it helps... That pain could be a "side cramp" from improper breathing. A suggestion I've heard is to chew gum (taking care not to swallow it) while you run.0

ive heard of the side stitch and also that it is actually your ab muscle cramping and when muscle cramp that means not enough water/fluids/electrolytes pre work.
I used to get them, now I just carry a little water bottle and make sure my posture is right when I run. lol other than that I have no idea lol0 -
yep, side stitch, it's from your diaphragm cramping up. Take BIG slow breaths in and out, and stretch that arm over your head (you should be able to do this while continuing to run) ....I've also heard exhaling while your left foot hits the ground also helps. It stretches out your diaphragm0

ahhh, the dreaded side stitch. I had this about 2 weeks ago and it took me about a week to get rid of it! Stretch and learn to breathe better0
