12 Week Challenge

Hi there, I started MFP in Feb, I've only lost 4lbs (1.7 kilos) after reading numerous posts and getting as many tips as I can, I have embarked on a 12 Week challenge. I've realized I can exercise until the cows come home (which I do and love it) but I am a food addict and need to try and get my eating under control. I have lost 10 kilos already after putting on 18 but want to lose another 8 in 12 weeks, that is my goal. So clean eating is what I am doing, I've browsed some diaries of success stories and it's all clean eating, so here I go on day 4 and going strong. I have tried every diet known to man, hypnosis, psychotherapy just to name a few, I have succeeded in some attempts but mostly just feel like I'm failing which makes me want to eat more!
If anyone is interested in joining me on this challenge feel free to add me as a friend, these are the rules I am sticking to:
1. No alcohol
2. Eating 5 small meals a day
3. 2 litres of water a day
4. Exercise 6 days a week mixture of weight training and some cardio
5. Weigh in every Monday
6. Have fun doing it!

I'm in...the last challenge I entered helped me thru 20 lbs in 10 weeks...happy to join you on this journey. I've been a bit 'stuck' since the end of the last challenge...not logging in not working out...I hope this is the right opportunity to re-focus running into summer! Thanks for the invite!! I haven't weighed in awhile, so I'll post my first 'official' weight tomorrow morning.0
-
I'd like to join too! Your goals are pretty similar to what I have been doing the past little while, but have cheated some. The only one I might have a bit of trouble with is the no alcholo. I did do this for awhile, but the past week I have enjoyed a glass of wine and a beer over Easter. So I hardly drink at all anymore, last year I was having at least a bottle of wine on the weekends, but now hardly ever. But I will commit to this, I just find it hard when I'm at family gatherings, will have to bring my green tea with me!
So count me in! I will weigh in on Monday! I am hoping to lose at least 10lbs but I would be pretty happy with just measurements too!0 -
Yes, I will join you. I have been trying to figure out a good starting point and I think this will be a motivating, realistic goal. Thank you! Any other 12 week challengers can add me - motherinme...I need all the motivation I can get :-p0
-
Fantastic! So glad you are all on board! I know what you mean about the alcohol!! Yes that will be hard for me too, but good in the sense that with the wine comes the cheese platter along with it so not so good hehe
So I will be blogging on this thread daily to stay motivated and will record my weight each Monday to stay on track, good luck everyone, WE CAN DO THIS!!!!0 -
What does everyone do as far as snacks? I am trying not to obsess about my calories but I had all I could do to stay under count with my 3 meals, so I didn't get to squeeze in a snack earlier...probably will eat something in another hour, as I feel slightly hungry...just wonder what good tasting snacks everyone has done0
-
Morning everyone!
Goals for today:
Drink my 2 litres of water, 1 down 1 to go
Do a Spin class (done)
Stick to my 5 meals - clean eating all day!
No alcohol (that will be a killer!)
Hope you all have a great day...:o)0 -
Forgot to respond regarding healthy snacks:
carrot sticks and hommus
low fat yogurt
cottage cheese with one scoop protein powder and a touch of sugar free maple syrup (yummm tastes like cheesecake!)
small handful of nuts
With my clean eating I'm trying to stay away from my normal snacks I would have, eg: crackers and cheese and any processed stuff, trying to keep it as natural as possible, to do this means I have to be SUPER organised!!! I have to have everything on hand otherwise I will just fall back into old habits, I am going to do a big cook up this weekend and I might make some vege soup too now that it's getting cold!0 -

Happy Friday challengers!
This week has been a little tough for me because we are renovating our kitchen, so all week I didn't have a kitchen to use so we have been eating suppers at my mom's and I've had to resort to buying my lunch. So I'm not eating my most typical things, I usually eat gluten free as much as possible but I can't really be too picky when I'm expecting my mom to cook for us everyday! I reallly hope my husband finishes our kitchen this weekend so I can be back to normal next week!
I havent eaten any sweets, I've really wanted to, but I havent'. I'm feeling extra hungry today though, some days I"m like that, I just feel like I could eat and eat!!
Last night at my mom's for supper, everyone had a drink, but not me! I swear this must be the first time I was the only one without a glass of wine! But I stuck to the goal and did without. I also did my workout and drank my water.
Today's goal:
1. drink a ton of water ( 2L at least)
2. no eating sweets
3. workout-bootcamp-done!
4. eat as clean as I can
5. eat mini meals!
Have a great day!0 -
oh and I should add ' no alchohol' to my goal today too!0
-
Good work! That is a milestone in itself!! It is very hard when everyone else is drinking and you aren't, it's such a social thing.
Ok......are we ready to do this!!! You better believe it!!!!
Met all my goals yesterday, wanted to watch the Royal Wedding so opted for sushi for dinner, I figured that was the cleanest option, I didn't want carbs again for the day but had to improvise!
So......Goals for today:
1. River walk 10 km
2. Drink 2 litres of water
3. No alcohol
4. Stay within my 1200 calories
5. Have fun doing it!
I hope you all have a great day and meet all your goals, and most of all be kind to yourself and do the best you can, these habits have been formed over a long period of time, we must be patient and consistent and we will see the results.0 -
Good morning everyone! I think some of you are in the afternoon by now!
Not sure what my plans are for today. I am going to try to fit some type of workout in, maybe a walk, or JM shred video, nothing major today!
This week has been tough, I"m hoping next week will be easier, I wish my husband would finish our kitchen, but I know he's working as fast as he can, just makes our schedule so throw off!
I hope everyone has a great day!
my goals for today:
1. no alcohol
2. not to eat more than 1600 calories
3. no junk!
4. get some type of workout in!
Chat soon!

Hiya!! Hope everyone has had a nice day...:o)
Ok.....so made it through the weekend, first one is always the hardest on a challenge, especially no alcohol!!! BUT I did it so it can be done.
Went for an hour walk today along the coast, then my nephews 10th birthday where everyone was eating copias amounts of pizza, cheesecake and chocolate! I was prepared and ate before I went so wasn't really too worried.
Stayed within my goals yesterday and today except I went over my 1200 cal because I cooked a fish dish and it was disgusting!!! So I had yogurt and banana to top up as I only ate the veggies and sweet potato.
I'm in the kitchen at the moment cooking chicken and veggie soup, this eating clean requires much more prep than usual and if I'm hungry I want to be prepared, I'm going to do some prawns with brown rice and veggies too for lunches and dinner throughout the week, I also made some mini beef meatballs last week so I will defrost those and cook for meals or snacks.
I saved myself $30 in my food bill by clean eating so I put that towards a pair of shoes!!0 -
Hi everyone! I hope you all had a nice weekend...:o)
Today didn't get off to a good start, showed up to Bootcamp this morning and there was nobody there! not sure what happened?? oh well!
Going to the gym this afternooon to do a weights session which I am really looking forward to, I love arms and shoulders!
Goals today have gone well so far....
1. 2 litres of water (done after gym workout)
2. Stick to my 1200 calories
3. No alcohol
4. Be kind to myself
I weighed in this morning and have lost .5 of a kilo or 1.1 lb, so not a huge amount but a loss is a loss I guess!!
talk soon x0 -
Hi everyone!
Well I think this week might go a little easier for me because we have our kitchen up and running, still not all finished, will be a few more weeks, but at least we can cook now!
I didn't weigh in this morning, and I know I definitely wont be weighing next Monday because Sunday is my husband's birthday and he wants chinese food and even if I only eat a little I know that sodium will show up on the scale! So I'm just going to wait a couple of weeks!
Goals for today:
1. bootcamp-DONE
2. eat 5-6 clean meals
3. no eating after supper
4. no alcohol
5. drink 2l of water!
Hope your all having a good one!!0 -
Hi everyone!
Rhonda, so glad to hear your kitchen is a goer!!! Will be soooo much easier for you
Goals met today:
1. 2 litres of water
2. Weights training and cardio

Day 8 down, 82 to go!!!!0 -
Hi guys,
Ok, I have to admit something, I just havent' been doing that great the past week, not great at all. I start off in the morning with the best intentions but I feel like my mojo has been lost, I'm just finding it so hard to stay on track and to motivate myself. I am forcing myself with the exercise so that is not an issue, I am still getting up and going to my bootcamp, which I feel pretty proud about because it has been a real struggle...I keep feeling like, 'oh what's the point, I"m not getting any resuls from this, why work myself to the point of exhaustion if it's for nothing'.....that is the voice in my head every morning...and all day it's..' oh just eat whatever you want your fat now, you've always had a fat stomach even when you were tiny, just give up'...... So you see I have to deal with this constant battle with myself every day and it's tiring! I really want this I do, but I guess I just don't believe in myself.
Today I will try again, see how it goes. My energy feels low, I got into an argument with husband before I left for work this morning so now I'm off all together. But I will try to get through today. I'm sorry if I sound like a downer, I just have no one in my life who I can share these things with.
Goals for today:
1. bootcamp-DONE
2. drink 2L of water
3. only 2 coffee today
4. no alchohol
5. no sweets or junk
6. go for mini walk on lunch break
7. try to fit in either JM yoga or a shred workout this pm
I hope this day is a great one for all of us!!! I'm going to do my best to turn my day around!!!
Rhonda0 -
Hi again!
Well, I turned my day around, it's about over now, just doing some housework then off to bed for an early rise.
Burned a lot of calories today, I think tomorrow wont' be such a high calorie burn but that's ok too!
Anyways, my day turned out a lot better. And I met all of my goals!
Chat again tomorrow!0 -
where are you guys? Come back!! haha!
So I think what is getting me through the past couple of days is knowing that on Sunday I will be having Chinese food and cake because it is my husband's birthday ( and mother's day) and I have ordered my husband an awsome cake and I can't wait to have a piece...so I'm hoping to make that a cheat meal...not a cheat weekend like usual!
I hope your all having a great day! It's just begining where I am, but a beauitful day out there!
My goals for today:
1. bootcamp-DONE
2. no junk-
3. no alcohol
4. yoga (45 mins.)
5. drink 2L of water
6. maybe go for a walk or run this evening ( probably walk)0 -
Yes I think it's just you and I Rhonda!
Oh well 2 is better than 1!!! Last night was tricky, felt starving, I think I was craving carbs? that is what usually satisfies me...BUT I didn't reach for those, I had some tuna and four been mix (some carbs but not bad ones) and I had weight watchers jelly and fruit only 10 calories so that satisfied my sweet craving.
Ok.....todays goals:
1. Cardio at gym 40 mins (done)
2. At least 2 litres of water
3. NO alcohol
4. Weights session after work
5. Enjoy my day!
Have a fabulous day everyone!!!0 -
Hiya!
