Don't know what to eat?

Hello :)
I'm new to this site, I'm currently 170lbs :( I am 5"8 and I am a uk size 12/14. I'm wanting to loose around 30lbs and be a uk size 8/10. My only problem is, I have no clue what to eat?? I am a nursery assistant so I'm doing moderate activity during the day, I also plan on doing 30mins to 60mins exercise 4/5 times a week. If anyone could help me with some sort of diet plan it would be great! I was thinking Weetabix with banana and 1%milk for breakfast. I need something quick and easy for lunch, I have heard mug shots are good for loosing weight, is this true? And I don't have a clue what to eat for dinner lol! Can someone please help me out? Also if anyone has lost around 30-40lbs how long did it take? :) thanks so much in advance :)

Go to eatthismuch.com enter your daily calorie goal and hit enter.

Search around allrecipes.com. And the recipes section of the forums on MFP for ideas.

    Good luck!

Just eat food...what you eat isn't nearly as important as how much you eat where weight loss is concerned. Weight control is largely about energy balance...you consume less energy (calories) than your body requires to maintain the status quo and your body has to dip into energy reserves (fat stores) to compensate.

What you eat is far more important to your nutrition and overall health. Eat plenty of veggies, lean proteins, healthy fats, and whole grains...EZPZ.

I lost about 40 Lbs and it took me about 9 months. What was more important here was that during this time I made it a point to develop healthy habits and learn a lot about nutrition and fitness...this serves me well in maintenance. I've been maintaining for about 1.5 years now without logging or keeping any kind of food diary.

If I ever go to England, I shall try these Weetabix people mention so frequently! :)

And Full English, whatever the hell that is.

I can't recommend anything as I don't speak your language, lol. Crumpets? ;)

Hiya! I'm English so I know the foods you're talking about. I tend to have porridge for breakfast if I want something big, but Weetabix are also good. I'll have a salad for lunch if I have time to make it, if not I have soup with low calorie crisps. I always have an apple and yoghurt with lunch, and then a Weight Watchers chocolate bar/cake slice in the afternoon so I don't eat everything when I get home.

I like Mug Shots but they don't have any protein, so maybe only have them occasionally (I used to have them a lot and I was STARVING by about 4pm). I always make my lunch the day before, throw in some chicken to cook whilst my dinner is already in the oven, so it doesn't feel like an effort.

Dinner wise, I try and have a main meat/fish/vegetable element and then add in a big salad or boiled vegetables. I keep a few low calorie ready meals in the freezer for when I've had a busy day and have them with vegetables/salad. Not as good as homemade but much better than reaching for the takeaway menus.

Hope that helps, feel free to add me :)

Kalikel. A full English is a breakfast of sausage, bacon, egg, tomato, beans, fried bread (or toast) and black pudding.

    Hi Ashley,

Set your weight loss to 0.5-1lb per week and eat whatever you want in moderation.
For example if you want pizza. Have 1 or 2 slices and bulk out with salad.

One of my personal rules is every meal must include fruit and veg.

Thanks! I've heard about it so much! Black pudding does not sound appetizing, but it will try it!

I always hear Brits talking about Weetabix. It sounds so cute and fun. Even spelled cute. I think even Bridget Jones ate Weetabix. Whenever I think of Brits, I think, "Flag, queen, tea and crumpets, Tower of London and Weetabix," so they're way up on the list. :)
