Working out.

Hi guys, just wandering if there is a way to work out what the best amount of activity to be aiming for a day is for weight loss. I wear a HRM and use an app on my phone and generally aim to do about 600+ calorie workouts a day. Just not sure if this is enough, or is there a webpage somewhere I am not seeing that I could use to calculate ideal calories for weight loss. Thanks in advance!

If you are using MFP and eating the calories alloted you don't need exercise to lose weight...it gives you enough of a deficit with just food...the exercise is just extra calories.

oh I did no realize that! The exercising is for my health too mostly, so it would be nice to double check if Im putting good effort in.

I don't like to rely on exercise calories alone to produce a calorie deficit. After all, you don't NEED to exercise to lose weight, it just contributes to your calorie deficit. I try to let my diet do the work, and add in exercise because I enjoy it. The sayings "you can't out-train a bad diet" and "abs are made in the kitchen" are thrown around because it is often a much easier and simpler way to control weight loss/gain through your diet, rather than your activity.

How many calories are you eating every day?

At this stage, MFP is suggesting 1340. If I work out like today, it can go up to 1600

    1340 is not especially high...
Have you tried running your stats in a different calculator? I would recommend http://iifym.com/iifym-calculator/ to calculate fat loss calories.

I don't use calories burned to guage that myself...

I lift weights and do other "fun" stuff like HIIT, biking etc.
