Sex count as a work out?

That seems to be the only other physical workout I get beside being in my garden and chasing my lil ones. IDK what do you think agree or disagree and why?

Of course, it must, if "playing piano" counts. But it's already factored into my activity level so no need to log.
  • Depends how good it is? lol

If it did I would have lost weight without trying...been married for just over 5 years...with him for 6 and well...he doesn't stop. So no it doesn't.

I'd say a good rule of thumb is any day to day activity you did when you were overweight shouldn't be logged as excercise calories.

I still cycled to work, mowed the lawn and got laid whist fat, so I don't log them now.

Sure but how many calories can you burn in 30 seconds?

You could always try wearing a pedometer or one of those fitbit type things while you're doing the deed. See what it says. Personally, I don't think it counts, but I guess that depends on how... vigorous you are?! xD

You can actually use MapMyRun to time it and it will give you a guestimate of how many calories you burn. It's listed under Intimacy. Don't worry when it syncs to MFP it just shows up as general aerobics lol.

    oh boy. here we go...
    is this a serious question?
do you log everytime you walk up and down the stairs? to the bathroom? to the kitchen? what about shopping? reaching into the cabinet?
if you answered yes to any of the above, sure. log it.

No. Is it an activity? Yes. So is going to the market. Do you log going to the market? Are both of those part of your N.E.A.T. sure. Do you log them? Not really.

Vigorous activity means anything that rates over six METs, and to achieve that you would need to be either "chopping wood and splitting logs" (6.3), "digging, spading, composting" (7.8), or "shovelling snow, by hand" (6.0).

According to the same source, the only domestic activity that falls into the vigorous range is "scrubbing floors and bathtub" (6.5), though "moving heavy furniture" (5.8) comes close.

If you prefer to fill your activity quotient by doing something more enjoyable than cleaning the loo, then dancing - "disco, folk, Irish, line dancing or country" - clocks up an impressive 7.8 METs. Unfortunately sexual activity ("vigorous effort") doesn't count as it comes in at a disappointing 2.8.

Whatever you decide to do, it is better to sprinkle your activity across the week rather than trying to get it all over and done with in one go. "We know that some of the health benefits of exercise are quite transient and may only last 12-24 hours," says Andy. "So it would be better to be doing a bit of activity every day rather than condensing it all into a couple of days."

Here is the link .... if it works ....
