How do you count calories at a chinese buffet?

2 Ways.
Either
1) When I get it to go it's weighed, so I can get a very educated guess at calories based off MFP entries..
2) When I eat it there and do all you can eat style, just add in 2-3 plates of Chinese buffet entry and be okay with the fact that you just ate 2,000 kcal or more.0 -
To me the stress from worrying about it is worse than gaining less than 3/4ths of a pound. Eat it and forget. Don't make a habit of it.0

For me any stress from worrying about it is from a perfectionistic drive to log everything right, and obviously that is not happening at a buffet. But I much prefer to get it in inexactly than skip entirely because I'm the type of person who is often in denial about my behavior, so I need to log it, face it, and keep on moving. Every logging is a step forward.0

You count by thousands (for calories and sodium)0

If you're counting calories you don't go to a Chinese Buffet. Or any buffet.
whatever...I ate chinese buffet tonight for dinner...
but because I weigh everything at home I have a good idea of what weighs what
Noodles about 50gram, bbq port about 100g, two crab rangoons, half a spring roll, chicken ball about 15grams and about 75grams of chicken wings (no bone)
as for those who say save it for a cheat day...what is this cheat day you speak of?0 -
I'm pretty good at counting by eyeball, so I eyeball and log. I've got a twice-monthly lunch meeting at a Chinese buffet, and when everyone else gets one plate and then is done, it's easier to eat a reasonable amount.0

I only like a few things so it is pretty easy for me, 1 cup honey sesame chicken 500 cal, sometimes 2 cups, veggies and meat stick 100 cal, 2 puff things 200 cal. around 800 calories or 1300 if I have 2 cups of that chicken I love. Someone once told me to have a cup of main item and then pick at the rest. I also don't eat noodles and rice, I like my calories to be what I really like. You will figure out something.0

Chinese buffet just might be the only situation in which I let go and let God. Which is why I only go to them maybe once a year... but enjoy the everloving *kitten* out of every bite.0

I'm going to a Chinese Buffet tonight with my family. We go to this place approx. once every 5-6 weeks. I appreciate all the responses here - much "food for thought" (which is zero calorie food, right? ).0

Don't forget the Mongolian grill if they have one. You can get a plate full of protein and veggies to start off with, wait a little bit and then go for your favorite things from the buffet for your treat.0

Its always gonna b an estimate... maybe take a picture before u eat so u can look back and easier make a guess when u come home0
