Anybody work 12 hr night shifts trying to lose weight?

I'm a 9-1-1 dispatcher working 12 hour night shifts and trying to diet and lose weight. I'm also in my early 50's, which makes it more difficult as well. Looking for friendly advice and maybe someone to friend to share encouragement with.

Im an RN working 16hr shifts. Best thing to keep me on track is prepping my meals and pre-logging them - so I know what Ill be eating throughout my 16 hours. I usually dont eat once I get home because my bed is much more tempting than food at that point
  • Wow 16 hr shifts? I thought 12 was bad! How do you keep from eating all night long if its a slow night? All weekend I had small portions packed it was hard to not stare at the clock and think "when can I eat again?"

I drink a lot of water to keep my mouth occupied...and I post on here to keep my hands occupied once I finish all my work - which I typically finish in the first 8 hours here. Pre-planning is my key. After all - my mother always told me, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail"

Im a night shift RN. I usually pack some fruit and then some type of protein with a veggie. When nights are slow it seems so hard to avoid the vending machine. I usually try to sip on tea when I start to feel tired/hungry.

I work 10 + 2 hours of travel time? I pre-log and pack everything for the night.
