If your job is legal, pays your bills, and isn't forced upon you, there's no reason on Earth to be ashamed of doing the work. Tell anyone who thinks differently to kindly stuff it.

Speaking as a mom, I had a daughter that worked at Hooter's in college. She made great tips b/c she was good at her job and didn't take any crap off anybody, then or ever. She now has her master's. Most of the girls there were in the same boat.
Sometimes you have to take employment where you can. There weren't that many opportunities with flexible hours that fit well with school and was close.

Nuthin' wrong with young ladies tryin' to make an honest living. If they're pretty enough to work at Hooter's they'd make way more bank if they signed up down at the local
"Shake Em' Up Joint". Just sayin'. God bless em'.

I never had a problem with it. they are always friendly, with a good disposition and usually very pretty. Never labeled them as more or less then any other waitress.

I think in today's job market, having any job at all is a plus. Waiting tables is a tough job regardless of the establishment. Props to anyone willing to do what it takes to pay the bills.

If you feel uncomfortable enough with the idea to ask about it, you may want to try looking for a different job.

Hi everyone. I'm just interested to hear opinions on this. What do you think of girls working at Hooters? Would you think less of them? Is it seen as sleazy? Or would you just think nothing of it? I mean they are just waitresses, but at the same time we all know Hooters mean something other than owls and the tank tops show that...
Guys, would you date a girl who worked at Hooters?

What if they were doing it part-time to earn enough money school? Ya gotta do what ya gotta do, right?

Why would someone be so shallow as to think that about someone who's working to pay their bills?

While some waitresses at Hooters might be objectified by some customers, I don't think personally that I would see a person who works at Hooters any differently. It's not like they're strippers or working in porn. They're just waitresses. Hooters hasn't cornered the market on objectifying waitresses...it happens at all kinds of restaurants and bars, even classy ones, although it's not as common.

I have to agree with this.

I don't go to Hooters. I got terrible service there once. There are too many resaurants to choose from to give repeat business to a place that gives terrible service.
In my case the waitress was a total airhead. I could have gotten the same terrible service at any restaurant, but, since there was only one Hooters in town, I'm not going back.

Personally, I could never work in retail or the service industry.

Every location is slightly different I'm sure. Hooters management approached my daughter & offered her a job when she met some friends there one day. She worked 1 day & never went back. Her experience was that the girls all fought constantly & she was expected to hug older guys & flirt with them. She was totally turned off & never even cashed the check she got for the day's work. I think they put it on a debit card or something...which she just threw away. That's saying a lot for a broke college girl!

If I were pretty enough to work at Hooters (never was, never will be as I'm way the hell too old), I'd be leveraging that asset into something that paid better for less hard work.

Pretty is an asset anywhere, and if it were one of mine, I'd combine it with other skills (and you have them or you wouldn't be going to college in the first place) to get my foot in the door to something that played to those skills.

That said, if one of your skills is the enormous patience and acting available to almostbutnotquite flirt in a way that makes people throw money at you (and it IS a serious people skill) and you LIKE waiting tables (some do) go for it. You might be able to make a good thing out of it if you keep control of the situation.

Though if you are that good, I'll point out sales can pay a lot better.

You know you have a food problem when someone says hooters and the first thing that comes to mind is how good the food was and you get hungry lol

Hey the wings are pretty good there! :D

i don't like their wings at all.

but to answer the OP's question - no, I don't think less of someone because of their job, unless their job is "criminal."

Not even a little bit of judgment. Good on you if you are making tips. Also, even dirty old men don't pay big for crappy service, so they have to be good at their jobs as well to make money.
In Chicago, we have Hooters and also The Tilted Kilt. My only objection is that a fair number of the girls at TTK have beer guts, and don't rock the uniform. Why? I can't speak for Hooters as I think I was in one, once, like ten years ago.

It's not sleazy, but I don't have a very good opinion on a restaurant chain that makes their girls wear panty hose, slouch socks, and reeboks.

If you want to work somewhere like that, go apply to Twin Peaks or Bikinis. At least that way, you won't be sacrificing your style.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it at all. Work is work, and if the women are comfortable doing it, why should anyone care?

Yes. So long as she is attractive, a good person, and has a brain.
