Just getting started:] Any advice?

Wazzup? I'm new to this. My best friend introduced me. I thought I'd share my story and ask for some help.
I used to be a cross country runner, but I haven't ran and have been eating/binging on unnecessary amounts of food since February. And this is all due to a bad break up! Now I'm trying to get back on track but I have no idea how to destroy my bad habits I've created. For the last 9 months I've been eating when I'm not even hungry and hardly exercising.
Any tips? I need to develop new habits and start exercising again, but I only make it through about 1 and a half days until I'm right back in front of the fridge and avoiding my running shoes at all costs.
How do I have patience and stay on track? How long will this take? When will I be okay again?

Patience makes perfect - that's what I say. Set goals and make a plan... chip away at it! There isn't a single goal that you could set for yourself that isn't achievable. it is just about how much you're willing to commit! Welcome!0

When will you be ok again - the answer is right now. You're 20 years old, you've been through a bad break up and you've used food as comfort for 9 months. But today you've made a decision. You know you're not eating right or looking after yourself properly. Its time to love yourself again and put yourself first for a while. The good thing is, you already have all the gear - the running shoes etc. Start by getting rid of the unhealthy stuff from your fridge - if you can't bear to dump it let your friends do a 'fridge raid'. Treat yourself to plenty of fresh, really good food and your body will feel better within days. Then start walking a little, running a little, walking a little. The endorphins will kick in - you know this stuff, you lived and breathed it just 9 months ago. And as you lose the pounds, you'll look great - at 20 your body will snap back into shape in no time. Best of all, whatever idiot messed you about will sooooooo wish they'd held onto you!0

Hi I'm Jacqui. I'd love to be with you in this change. For me I started by keeping a written food diary - the shock here was some days I couldn't tell you what I'd eaten - hence coming here. How long will it take? Let me ask you a different question, providing the changes you make last (both eating and exercising) does it matter? I've sent you a friend request.0
