How many carbs should a pre diabetic woman intake in a single day?

    I would think you would want to keep your carb intake fairly low, like below 75g a day if possible. Also important, you shouldn't be eating carbs on their own. Always try to eat them with a significant amount of protein when you do eat them. You might even try a ketogenic diet, but that's just a suggestion. I am not a doctor or a professional so take my advice with a grain of salt.

    Pre-diabetics (and full-blown diabetics) should be looking at glycemic index of meals. Some generalized guidelines include adding more fibrous foods to blunt the effects of refined and natural sugars.

    Ideally, you should be consulting with your doctor and/or a registered dietician to keep blood sugar under control.

    Your dr may be able to refer you to a dietician. They should at least be able to give you some pointers. If you are in the US, the American diabetes society has some info on their website, but what I gathered was that you should come up with an individualized plan. I was just diagnosed with diabetes and am seeing a dietician this afternoon.

    Like was stated above, we aren't the best source for that info.

  • There isn't a set amount of carbohydrate recommended for people with pre-diabetes. The recommendations are general, suggesting losing 7% of body weight and 30 minutes of exercise five days per week.
