Getting back on track was harder than starting

This isn't my entire journey, but my journey to get back on track. Which was a harder mountain to climb than my first one.
This is for those who started their journey and fell off track. In the middle of this year I lost track.. I was ashamed and I lost hope. I kept trying, but only to fall again and again. Aug 23 was the day I found clarity. I told myself I'm not a failure, like I thought I was; you only fail if you give up... Stop trying... I shift my goals to be smaller, achievable, short-term goals with deadlines. And kept all promises that I made every day... I stopped wanting to become who I used to be, and started becoming who I will be. I accept that I will fall, but will never fail.
This is me from the VERY beginning (July 2010)

I agree! I really want to blame it on being a few years older this time, but I dunno. It's just really tough to stay on track, and the scale wasn't even budging for the longest time! Ghahhhh...0

It really is! I found that starting off with small promises that I know I can keep. For example, drinking water at every meal. I did that for a week, and consistently added on to those promises. And now I feel like I can conquer anything. Making a clear achievable goal on a set date really helped me stay on track. Mine was to get to <9% body fat by Christmas, and I made small goals/promises leading up to that one. Also, the scale is notoriously inaccurate and it could break you. I haven't weighed myself in the two side-by-side pictures in those 3 months, and that's one thing that helped me. Get rid of the scale and focus more on goals that you've reached!!! I believe in everyone here on MFP. It shows me that you've already have the will to start.0 -
I think getting back on track is hard because we know it has to be a different track than in the past because those tracks did not work out to be the correct path results wise.0

Amazing. I hear that, I've strayed from my path the last couple weeks and working hard to get back on it and push forward.. I was falling into complacency but I'm so far from done that I can't let myself get stuck just because I've lost weight. I'm only half way to goal, I'm going until I'm healthy and happy. I have many goals now that are leading to a final goal. Thank you for posting this. I love reading the success stories but it feels so good to hear the struggle too, lets me know I'm human for not being perfect, just like everyone else.0

That is exactly how I felt, at first, I guess the fact of just merely losing weight was addicting. After I lost it, I got bored. I gained it back and found no real reason why I wanted to lose it again.0 -

It's really heartfelt to know that I can affect others in a positive way like that. I did not realize so many people were in the same shoes as I. I came from 230lbs and went to 140 at my lowest. I was so ashamed because I almost gained back 40lbs!
But, that is the way I went as well, making small goal in order to reach my bigger goals. I am not to my biggest goal yet, but I continue to make smaller ones each day Good luck!
