Clean Eating Recipes and Meal Planning

I'm actually looking for ideas for this. I'm just starting this whole clean eating thing to become healthy and keep the weight off. All the groups I have found are all linked to something where you basically have to pay to join and I'm not interested in joining anything that costs money. Just wanting to find others who are doing this or interested in doing this. Anybody out there like this?

Hello Julie!
You can try this for breakfast, protein oatmeal... it is very easy you put some oats in boiled water, 1 scoop of protein and some milk if you want0 -
I really like the idea of clean eating. Definitely interested in trying it out- maybe not being completely 100% on it since I know it'd be hard when my hubby isn't interested (he just wants to eat what's cheap lol) but cutting out as much processed food as possible definitely sounds good to me.0

I have been eating more clean for a few months and it is not as difficult as I thought it would be. Basically eat fewer processed foods, less foods with preservatives, more fresh fruits/veggies and good lean proteins. With meats, be sure they are from hormone/antibiotic free livestock and the meat isn't injected with saline (usually find this last one with frozen chicken breasts). I only eat whole grain cereals, breads, and pasta.
Not all packaged foods are "unclean". Just look at the ingredient listing. If it is as long as your arm or has words you don't know and cannot pronounce, chances are it is not clean and is full of preservatives.
I found a great magazine - Clean Eating Magazine - that has great recipes and tips. They have quite a bit of information on their website, including recipes. The website is cleaneatingmag.com
Between eating more clean (not 100% but close) and regular cardio and strength training I have lost 45 lbs in the last 160 days.
Good luck and enjoy!0 -
Thanks, everyone, for your input! I will look into getting a subscription to Clean Eating magazine as it keeps coming up often in my research about clean eating. Thanks, again!0

Cook. Join the clean eating group here. And avoid asking about clean eating on the main boards. Yesterday's OP is still smarting from the dog pile on her post.
Pinterest.... but again: just cook wholesome foods and avoid the heavily processed, heavily refined convenience foods.
ETAL you can ask about healthy recipes without folks going nuts, it seems. Good luck!0 -
One of the things I have discovered is drinking a glass of water with fresh lemon and ginger first thing in the morning as a "detox" to start the day. Do any of you have any thoughts or practices on detoxing your body?0

The word detox also causes people to go mental. And in reality, it's not a detox. It's a lovely thing to do, but it's not a detox.
Pooping is a detox.
Choosing not to eat foods with added sugars to get rid of the cravings would be considered by some a bit of a detox.
Again, join the clean eating group here. Your questions are only going to lead to either: silence, or a lot of mocking and gifs.

Dude, she said "clean". There's no way anyone could consider something as highly processed as protein powder to be "clean"0 -
If by "clean eating" you mean basically just cooking whole foods and trying to eat generally healthy, there are probably lots of people on the main forums (including me) who are interested in that and do it successfully and would have ideas about how to do it within the context of a busy life. (I don't consider this a special kind of eating, since I think of it as basically normal cooking and eating. I guess if forced to use a name I'd say it's about trying to eat healthily or getting back to cooking.)
But if you mean something else or for some reason only want to talk to people who self-define with a "clean eater" label, I suppose you could seek out a special group.0 -
try Quinoa. I use it cold in salads. Or eat it warm with a few walnuts and dark chocolate morsels. It can be a breakfast food or snack. You buy it by the pound at health food stores. my favorite is the tri-color as it seems to be less mushy. If you buy the natural color, substitute it for rice, in any recipe. It is considered a superfood - high in protein. Want more ideas - check out Pinterest!0

I've only been eating clean whole foods for the last 5+ weeks. I am a little more relaxed on Sundays but 100% clean from Monday-Saturday and it has changed my life. Add me if you want0

Thanks, again, for all the good ideas! I am not a purist by any means, but I have cut out processed foods (mostly--I'm not turning down those once-a-year desserts!) and just eat fresh fruits, veggies, lean meats, with a little bit of whole grain carbs. I also enjoy quinoa and have discovered quinoa pasta which I use when I am needing that pasta fix!0
