Hello :)
I'm 7'6" and 198 lbs. I want to lose weight but it's very hard for me to eat less, so i tend to exercise a lot and eat normaly so i can still lose weight. But my knees are injured and they hurt when i bend. What kind of exercise would you recomend? I can not run, squat, it all hurts too much. Walking is ok but i burn around 250 cals per hour and i don't have time to walk 2-3 hours every day.
Thanks for all answers :)

A stationary bike or spinning is a good way to exercise, and watch TV at the same time. Be careful not to hyper-extend your legs. Your knees will be stressed.

    You're 7'6"? Can you play basketball? :p

Do you have access to a gym?

Maybe try some Tae Bo or kickboxing. Also, jump rope or jumping jacks. You can also look into lifting weights, I'm sure there is some kind of alternate to squats.

I'm guessing that the 7'6 is a typo, since otherwise, you probably wouldn't be looking to lose weight at 198 lbs.

I also have a bad knee that I have to be careful of. I would suggest swimming, or you could try riding a bike. I find that as long as I raise the seat up high enough on the stationary bike, I can minimize knee pain.

I have bad knees as well, and I'd recommend swimming and a stationary bike. I'd also like to add that at your height of 6'7 you probably shouldn't go below 198 lbs. but that's just my opinion.

Dude, at 6'7" you shouldn't be trying to lose even more weight. When I was 6'1" and 195 I thought I looked rail thin and so did my wife. I'm guessing your size calculator is a little off. However, I have knee problems too and love the elliptical because it is no impact and doesn't make you have to bend your knees too far. Otherwise, if you don't have access to a gym, walking is probably good if the pain doesn't come from impact or anything in the water.

Are you sure you're still not miscalculating? 6'7 is still very very tall for a female. We do cm's here, how many cm's are you?

So yes, i should lose weight :)
I would be happy under 150 lbs :)

Hey, Have you tried the cross trainer? Im currently recovering from my second knee reconstruction, so i feel your pain.
Pretty much anything hurts when you start, but when you get past 7mins you'll find that the warmer you get the less it hurt. My first 5 mins on a cross trainer are sore, but after that i can do 45mins pain free.

Another major thing is to make sure that you build up the muscles around you knee too, the stronger they are the more they will support your knee, which will help with pain also.

Any exercise you can do is good but get yourself to a physio to check out the knee issues. It may be something simple.

I had to take a few weeks off running a while back simply because one of my IT bands went crazy tight. I would start running and 400yrds later I had turned round and was limping home.

Took him all of 10 mins to diagnose and another 20 to show and explain the stretches I should be doing. 2 weeks later back running with no issues

Good points, Kimmi and Chunky! I forgot that another thing that helped when I was starting was spending time with a foam roller rolling out my tight muscles that were contributing to my knee pain. And stretches. Both of which hurt, but the pain is just a sign of how tight you really are.

I've been there. I'm 5'10", started at 279 lbs, with *lots* of knee pain due to arthritis, torn meniscus, etc. Losing weight (down to 174 lbs) made a massive difference.

My knee specialist recommended cycling, swimming and walking. I didn't have access to a pool, cycling bothered my knee initially, so I went for walking ... only a mile at at time at first, but now I can go for a 10 mile hike with ease. I also now 'run' on the elliptical machine for 35 mins, 2x/week.

My physio put me through tons of stretching routines and various workouts, including bodyweight squats.

In short, dropping weight and improving my leg muscles cut my knee pain. When I started in Jan, I was taking 400 mg ibuprofen 3-4x per day. As my weight dropped, the pain meds tapered off. Last time I touched any was in June, and that was a single dose in the whole month.

For more details, and hopefully some inspiration, go to http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10021880/what-a-difference-a-year-makes
    where I give greater details.

    Best of luck!

That's something my doctor said also :)
I'll do my best to make those quads stronger but i'm not happy with it... I think my quads are huge, i feel like a man sometimes, the are really big for a woman and now i have to make them even bigger :(

I really hope pain will go away along with pounds :D
