Abdominal toning suggestions?

I am currently doing 30 Day Shred, and I'm running 3 days a week (only about 3 miles each time, but that will increase in the months to come). I am starting to see my tummy muscles a little bit, and I would like to tone them a little bit. So, I was wondering if there is another program that you guys would recommend for the tummy area? Does Jillian, or anyone else, have one that you felt good about? I'm not looking to bulk up or anything, just want to accentuate this area a little more. Thank you!!

  • You can't go wrong with planks, ab-rollouts and leg raises. That's pretty much all you need to really work your core, aside from doing compound lifts like squats and deadlifts.
  • You cant spot reduce fat. We all have abs muscles. If you cant see them you have too much fat. You should focus on losing weight. Strength training is great, but focus on your entire body not just your abs.

Caloric reduction and thousands of heavy squats.
  • Front squats pretty much neuter my core.

I think you're doing enough for now.

    Bulking is entirely diet based.

Setting fitness goals is often more productive, motivational and rewarding than vague toning.

    +1.
thats exactly the programme trainer advised for me too, along with full body cardio of rowing and elliptical, with some added HIIT on treadmill.
its not vague toning, but a specific plan after reducing from morbidly obese to overweight.
