so, a couple of weeks ago, I posted that I had been eating rice cakes at night and not even aware of it... I cut the ambien in half ( and I'm not sleeping worth a darn LOL) but still continue to eat at night.:noway: I'm realizing that I may just have a terrible habit of doing this. My husband says I've been doing this forever. so, now I'm down locking my cabinets! Lets see what happens! LOL!!! I laugh because in a way it is very funny.... but it is oh so frustrating too! wish me luck!:ohwell:

I am interested in know whether or not this worked for you.. Yes this is kinda funny.0

Hey, look on the bright side, at least you were sleep eating rice cakes, and not something horrible for you!0

I have seen shows on sleep eating. At least you were eating rice cakes, some people eat really strange things like cat food sandwiches! People set up cameras to catch what was happening in the kitchen overnight because rhey would find strange remnants of food in the mornings not knowing where it came from.
Ambien: that stuff scares me. My mom's boss shaved off her eyebrows without remembering. My boss' wife would make a full-blown breakfast and leave the stove on. My sister's husband would "get fresh" with her in the middle of the night and not remember. And the warnings about driving and not remembering? Wow. Give me warm milk anyday!!0 -
I would LOVE to be off the stuff! I was put on it several years ago when I quit drinking.... Severe insomnia came with being sober LOL! I'm looking into more natural things to help with this. THEN, maybe I can quit taking it all together!0

I swear by melatonin.
3mgs a night and I sleep great.0 -
I was just about to suggest the melatonin....0

I've added the melatonin to the shopping list! I'll let you know how it does for me! I'm curious to see if it affects me at all after taking ambien for so many years! I may have to go a while without sleeping well until my body gets used to it huh?0

I also have the problem of sleep eating. I take Trazadone every night and thought it may have something to do with it. I go on streaks with it. It seems like the more I try not to do it, the more I do it. It doesn't make any sense but............
Good luck to you and please keep us posted on what you find.0 -
My brother used to do that when he was little. He would wake up in the middle of the night and eat everything in the house. It wasn't until my dad saw him do it in his sleep, that he realized my brother wasn't in control.
He started leaving snacks on the table for him and he would eat the snack and go to bed.
Maybe you could plan for those calories in your allotment and set a snack aside for those midnight strolls.0
