It amazes me at what people are amazed by. :noway:0 -

It doesn't take a ton of food. It just takes very rich/fattening food. For example, just one cup of sausage stuffing made with the full stick of butter and the whole nine yards is almost four hundred calories all by itself.
And have you seen the counts on certain types of pie?0 -

Well I had 700 calories for breakfast just from pancakes, lol. Then just a few pieces of pie will do that to you (I had 3 small slices of pecan pie which I'm guessing were probably close to 700 calories? Who knows though). I didn't even eat THAT much compared to what I used to. And I didn't drink.

1357 egg nog and beer, the two most important turkey day consumption fun!
back to real food on non-holidays0 -

I ate around 4500 calories and gained 3 lbs but the weight came off in one day0
-
I put down nearly 5000 calories, ran 35 miles since then, and lost 3 pounds #doingitright0

Agreed! I don't understand why people 'pity' those who decide to stay within their calorie goals on holidays - I thought that was the whole point of weight-loss: To make a lifestyle change and stick to it. Personally, I find it easier to go over my calorie goal by a couple hundred calories once in a while rather than gorge 2000+ extra calories on a single day. Eating 1200-1400 calories is a pain as is. Live and let live, folks.0

I'm pretty sure "fat free gravy" is a euphemism for "broth," because there's not much else it could really be...

I made roux for my Marmite gravy. I didn't have mashed potatoes as they had skins on them, so I poured a little on my turkey.
I had been hoping to hit the coveted 6000 calories, but alas a 2 day hospital stay for a GI disease means that I've just been grazing. I literally used a tea plate for my Thanksgiving dinner. Real whipped cream I made myself on the pies too. Mmmmm pre-butter form.0 -
I was a few hundred under maintenance, but I can't eat most traditional Thanksgiving foods. My feast day is the next day, when I console myself with all the treats I decided I deserved while watching others eat. Friday I was 500 something over maintenance.0

I'm working on it slowly. Just because it will take me like a week and a half at the rate I've been going with food intake doesn't mean I won't try and get there. Though the rest of the house might polish things off before I get there.. :grumble:0 -
2169 - 7 calories to spare.0

Yup that's what happened I ate over 6000 calories of everything yesterday, especially the stuff that had sugar and this morning I gained back all 119 lbs I've lost cause that's how it works.
You know, we get that you seem really proud that you gorged yourself as you've repeated it multiple times, but there really is no need to be snarky to those that didn't. We all choose to handle holidays differently. Just because someone didn't choose to overeat does not mean they need your insults thrown at them. Some didn't overeat, some did slightly, and some went to town. If you enjoyed yourself, fine. It sounds like others did too, so no need for your nasty rhetoric. Good grief.
I gorged myself??? Really?? Just because my calories were higher it's gluttony?
Also when did I insult someone? Which is kind of ironic as that is what you are attempting to do to me. Again nasty rhetoric that's right your post here was just filled with warm fuzzies.
So stop trying to be the white knight
Ummmm, saying you gorged yourself isn't really an insult. It's fact. If you ate 6000 calories like you repeatedly said you did, then that is gluttonous, yes. If I had eaten that much, I would have called it gluttonous. Again, not an insult, just fact. You seem proud of it anyway, so own it. And you know darn well you were insulting several people here. You can deny it, but it's right here in the threads. Not trying to be a white night. Just sick of people like you judging others and being nasty to them just because they made different choices on how to handle the holiday than you did. Anyway, I'm done here. Have a nice day.

How is her stating that she ate a nice Thanksgiving meal without giving up "real" foods insulting people?
People like her? You mean people that have lost 119 pounds? Obviously we can all take a page out of her book.0 -

~2000-2200 is my guess. Significantly more than what I usually eat but not nearly as much as I wanted because our oven stopped working lol. There were a lot of things that we had to do without because of that.0

Yes I am very proud of myself that I understand having a few days that I totally indulge won't impact or reverse all the progress I've made. Please show where I insulted someone, I may have questioned what they said, but did I come out and say they were gluttonous or nasty? Nope that would have been you so pot meet kettle0 -
I'm from England so about 1800, Christmas will be my first real test but I won't gorge too much, it's just not worth it. That being said I know I'll eat more than usual, probably around 2500.0
