I am 5'10, 241 pounds, medium frame. I currently just fit into size 12 (loose 14). If I get to my goal weight of 175-180, what size will I probably be?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

That's really hard to say, as people can be very different weight and height, and fit in different sizes. Im 5'7", 132 lb and Uk size 10
  • For the first two sizes I dropped, it was around 20 then 15 pounds per time. Then it was around 10 pounds from 14 to 12. At the rate of 10 pounds per size, it seems like I would be a size 0 US by 180 pounds, which seems highly unlikely, as I would still be overweight.

I have never been below an adult size 14 since I was ten and almost a foot shorter, so I just have no idea what to expect.

What are your experiences with dropping into smaller sizes? Do you continue to drop them every 10 or so pounds? Is there a size that you stick at for longer, or do you reach a natural stopping point when you hit your natural best size?

I'm 5'8" and 170-180 and am size 14. Depending on the cut, maybe 12 although I like to wear my clothes loose. At my heaviest, about 240, I was around size 18-20 so I haven't lost a lot of sizes. I think I lost 40 lbs before I lost my first size and am about 20 lbs/size. As I lost, I did find my pants became longer.

Totally dependent upon your body shape, and brand of clothing.

I'm 5' 9.5", and 175. I currently wear anywhere from a size 8-12, depending upon the piece of clothing.

At my heaviest weight of 220, I was generally wearing 16-18.

Depends on your body! I am 5'9" and at 200 pounds with a large frame, I am around a size 12. (Not currently, but used to be)
  • As others have mentioned, it totally depends on your body shape. I am 5'10" and I started out at 203 lbs wearing a 12/14, which you are currently wearing at 241 lbs so that is already a big difference.

Currently I am 153 lbs and wearing an 8/10 on the bottom and S/M on the top.

I'm a definite pear, although when I was heavier, I was more hour-glass. I'm 5'9" and wore, for bottoms, US size 18 at my heaviest (215) and they were tight (I refused to get a 20). I dropped fairly quickly to a 16, stayed there for a long time and then went right into a 12 when I was around 160-165. I kept losing, skipped size 10 and am now comfortable in an 8 with my maintenance range of 140-145. I can wear a 6 if they are "curvy". For tops, I wore a size 2x, but I did like loser clothes. I was probably more of a 1x or even XL. Although I can wear medium tops, I often wear large just for the length of the arms and torso (and to have breathing room).
  • I'm not sure what body shape I am... 42" on hips, 35" waist, 44" bust (36 band).

If my hips were bigger, I'd say hour glass. If you go by band instead of bust, I'd be pear... I just don't know.

    Hard to say.

I am 6'2", 215-220lbs depending on water weight etc., and I wear a size 10 or 12 in pants depending on the brand. I have a 36"+ inseam. At 281lbs, I wore a size 16/18 depending on brand.

At 5'11 and 215 lbs I was barely squeezing my bum into size US

You'll only know when you get there.

You may also find that, right now, your size 12/14s fit because they've been stretched out.

You'll do better to focus on body composition and health than a clothing size, as that number is meaningless, as the posters above have indicated

Like the others have said, it really depends on way too many factors to know for sure. You sound like you would be in around an 8 if you get to 175 lb, to me. But who knows.

I'm 5'8" and at 241 lb I was still in an 18. Now I'm at 170 lb and wear 10-12.

The size I said got cut off. Weird. I was trying to say I was 215 lbs and US size 16.

Completely depends. I'm 5'8 and started at 228 pounds in a size 14/16. I'm now 188 pounds and only a solid 14. My thighs are too big to go down smaller even though it is loose around my waist :(

Don't pay attention to numbers. Just get healthy and happy :)

Wow! I'm actually jealous! :) My biggest problem is my waist......that's where it all gathers. I'm 5'10" with a large frame. At 243 lbs. I was BARELY fitting into a US 24. I'm currently at 206 and fit comfortably in a 20. I'll be happy to get to a 14, but will take smaller if it allows!

I'm 5'10", 147 lbs, 34" inseam for pants, 29.5/30 inch waist (at belly button), hip at widest point 35.5 ish. If pants have stretch about a size 6/7/9 depending on brand and cut.

Way too many variables to answer that question. Also 5'10. I'm about 277 currently and wear a comfortable 24. I don't expect to be anywhere close to a 12 at 241. In fact I'd be thrilled if I could wear at 12 at 180.
