Weights for Body Beast

I bought my husband Body Beast for Christmas. I am wondering if adjustable dumbbells up to 50 lbs each will be appropriate, or if I need to look into something heavier? He is in good shape, but we've been doing Insanity so we haven't done any weight lifting for awhile. Thanks for your help!

I did portions of BB awhile ago (mostly to supplement my Bench, DL, Squats) and found that up to 50 lbs for each arm allows you to do most of the exercises with some intensity. Many of the moves are supersets with high reps (start with 15 reps, then 12 then 8) and involve isolated moves like dumbbell overhead presses, chest and shoulder flyes, lunges, etc.. So a total of 100 lbs works well for those of us not super strong, particularly if he hasn't done any lifting for awhile.

A word of caution -- he'll need to adjust the weights on the dumbbells very quickly as the program moves through the supersets really fast (i.,e, only a few seconds between sets). I had an extensive set of hex dumbbells so I could just pick up a different weight. Not sure how fast the adjustable weights can be changed. But he can always just hit the pause button...

    Hope this helps.
