At a loss for weight loss!

Hello all, I'm new here and on my journey to losing weight. I was 180 lbs and now kind of leveled off at 165 and want to lose 15 to 20 more pounds by January 10th and I'm 5' 8". I've been walking/jogging, yet not daily and next week shall make that a daily goal in the morning given weather conditions. If it's rainy or to cold then I'll work on crunches. I've lowered my calorie intake to 1200 and am stuck at 165! Yesterday I got rid of all crackers and snacks and breads, with exception of the 100 calorie smart pop popcorn. I'm eating oatmeal or a banana for breakfast and soup for lunch. Dinner is iffy.

Yet, I'm stuck at 165, what can I do to get beyond that. I don't eat very many apples nor fresh veggies, should I incorporate more apples and citrus fruits for weight loss? Sweet potatoes and other fresh veggies for dinner, i.e., carrots and celery sticks with a bit of peanut butter?

I will switch my Progresso soups to the Heart Healthy to alleviate more sodium.

I'm staying away from restaurants and drinking more water.

Yet, I'm hovering at 150 and would appreciate any advice! Many thanks!

    Truly. So many cliches I wondered if it was a bad troll post. Anyway, OP, if you check out that link you will get some answers. I will say that 10-15 pounds in 5 weeks is not a realistic goal at your current weight and height.

    What you eat is not nearly as important as how much you're eating. How much water you drink doesn't matter, neither, really, does how much bread or pasta or sodium you're eating. You simply need to be very diligent about counting your calories and staying below your calorie goal. You don't say whether or not you're doing that. If you haven't yet, buy a kitchen scale and weigh all of your solid foods and measure the liquid ones. If you're using general entries in your food diary you could quite easily be eating much more than 1200 calories.

    I'm confused, though. At the beginning of your post you say you're stuck at 165 and want to get down to 150. Then at the end you say you're stuck at 150. Is that a typo?

    Hello, I'm experiencing the same frustration right now. I've gained instead of lost though I feel I've cut back a lot on eating. I don't have any answers but just want to let you know you aren't alone.

    Crackers, snacks, and bread won't stall your weight loss unless they're causing you to eat over maintenance.

    Apples and other fruits and veggies have vitamins and fiber that are good for you and they should be included in any diet, but including them won't cause you to lose weight without also being in a deficit.

    Sodium may cause you to retain water, which can cause your scale weight to fluctuate, but it also won't stop your fat loss.

    Cardio is good for your health, but it's not necessary for weight loss. On the days you work on crunches consider adding other forms of exercise. Weight loss is more about how much you're eating. Exercise based on your fitness goals, not your weight loss goals. Pick a program you like and stick with it.

    Losing 15-20 pounds in a month is a big goal and may not be achievable at your current weight. You might want to consider lowering your goal a bit.

    My apology, yes that was a typo regarding hovering at 150. I'm hovering at 165! Thanks for brining that to my attention.

    It is not realistic to lose 20 lbs in one month when that is all you have left to lose. Set your goal to 1 lb per week and then accurately and consistently log your food using a food scale. Don't overthink it :) Good luck!
