Try a lower heat?0

I've tried everything. I'm 35 years old and have been attempting to cook bacon since I was about 15. I've used low heat, medium heat, high heat, the oven and the microwave.
Disgraceful.0 -
Preheat your oven to 375º F, put a sheet of parchment paper on a cookie tray. Place bacon on parchment paper, cook 12-15 minutes.0

There's no "right" way to cook bacon. Throw it in your rice, if you want.0

This is great way to cook it...0 -
I don't even eat bacon and I don't think the "right" way is the microwave.
*gags*
That reminds me of one of the recipe posts where the OP said to cook your chicken in the microwave for 12minutes0 -
There may not be a right way, but there's a wrong way and that's burned.
I'll try on parchment paper tomorrow, thanks for the tip BeerRunner0 -
Find the best bacon you ever had, marry, live with or be roommates with the chef0

George foreman grill (or anything like it), check on it when you smell bacon when it cooks how you'd like it write down how long it took.0

I share this shameful defect. The oven, the stove top, the grill--it's all equally bad. Either flaccid and undercooked or burnt. No in-between.
Do you suppose that there is a support group somewhere for us?0 -

If not we should create one.

The microwave is better than eating it bunt.TheVirgoddess wrote: »There may not be a right way, but there's a wrong way and that's burned.

The microwave is better than burnt, nasty bacon... Barely.
You're welcome. Cooking bacon that way is so great, and you can cook so much at one time.

I like my bacon undercooked by some folks standards. I hate when you bite a piece and it turns to bacon dust. I want some chew to it.0

Just to clarify, when I say burned, I mean black.0

Love the oven tip.
Put on cold cast-iron pan, medium heat, seven minutes first side, flip once, five minutes second.0 -

This, but not Burnt, just well done without the whale blubbery feel of undercooked

Just cook on med to med - low. Give them a flip every 40-60 seconds once it sizzling. Basically when you flip it over and see one side looking like ideal bacon for you, give it 30 more seconds, pull it, and put on a paper towel.
TL/DR, you have to hover over it if you want perfection. OCD ftw.0 -

Ha! Reminds me of what my sister did 30 years ago before she decided to become vegetarian... She liked bacon, but didn't like all of the fat, so she trimmed it all off before cooking it. THAT was the worst bacon debacle in our house EVER!

Ughhh...all you bacon vapor lovers! Curse you, you culinary fopaux!0

I always cook my bacon in the microwave, I find the stove top way too messy. Sandwich it between paper towels, it gets crispy. I check after a few minutes and often after that. The paper towels sop up a lot of the grease and clean up is much easier.

i do the oven thing, but i put it on a rack inside a baking sheet. I use thick cut bacon, I go 425 for about 15 minutes. Then not only do i have bacon, but i have a whole baking sheet full of bacon fat to pour off into a jar for later.0

With all due respect; in my experience those cooks who absolutely cannot cook certain basic things usually look for short cuts and/or are impatient when it comes to certain foods. You can't go and fold the laundry, or clean the bath while bacon is cooking, it needs some attention.
Maybe buy some bacon when it's on sale, sit down by the stove and cook bacon, 4 slices at a time until you get it right and you realize why you got it right. The neighborhood dogs could have a party with the bacon that didn't turn out right.
That is how my grandmother taught me certain basic cooking skills and it worked.
Good Luck !
