Looking for FREE workout ideas

I'm a girl on a budget and don't belong to a gym. I usually take 2 or 3 15 minute walks during my work breaks everyday and have a nice trail not too far from home to walk at too, but outside of that I'm stumped for workout ideas. Oh, and just to make things a little trickier - I don't have a tv so on demand workouts aren't an option... HELP!

Do you have a YMCA nearby? They tailor their fees to your income. Might be an idea. Craigslist is a good option for a used treadmill, eliptical or stationary bike. Some of this equipment has workouts preprogrammed from the factory. Computer with a dvd player? That would work if you wanted to use a workout dvd.
Get with some friends and walk the local high school track a couple times a week, 4 laps is a mile. 20 mins for 4 laps is a 3mph 'brisk' pace that you will certainly feel. In winter, now that we're out of that problem, when you can't use the track, most malls nearby have early open hours so you can walk the halls. Is there a local college nearby? They may have discounted resident rates for their gyms...

Watch some workout videos on youtube, and just note what you do and dont want to do. Even if you dont have internet at home you can watch them and do what you remember.
You could also start out with the Junior High warm ups, situps, push ups, jumping jacks. Id start with little things that you know.
And my BF just informed me that you can netflix work out vidoes, but thats if you meant you dont have cable,not no tv.0 -

Netflix also streams online, so if you don't have a tv, you can buy their streaming option (I think it's something like $7.99 a month) and stream workout videos to your computer. I've done this a few times and it's great for when I don't feel like or don't have time to go to the gym!0

Have you thought of doing a Couch to 5K program? You can google it to get the weekly workouts. It would be a little variation, not just a regular walk.0

Check your local library for workout DVDs and books. Walking is an excellent exercise as is and you can always kick it up a notch by going farther, going faster, walking some big hills, doing jogging/running intervals, etc. Purchase a couple handweights ir a resistance band and google at home strength training for ideas on a program.0

Check eBay! I got a Leslie Sansone DVD for 3.99. Also, check the markdown bins at WalMart. I got a Gold's Gym DVD for $4 and it has some pretty intense workouts. If you have netflix, you can get many DVD's to try. Also, check out your local library! They might have some DVD's you can rent!0

go to the park and hit the playground. Do reverse pullups on the rings, pushups on the benches, lunges, etc... Plyo jumps on the picnic tables. Run steps. Find a hill, run up and down.0

I use Netflix streaming option. They have some fun work outs on there and it's cheap. Also, go to a local playground. Use the play equipment at work out equipment. I.E. Monkey bars to do chin ups, the swings are a great work out for your legs, and running up the stairs to get to the slide really gets your heart rate up. Once you are at the top you might as well go down that slide! Bonus!!0

I highly recommend Fitness Magazine. You get new work outs each month and it's like $5, and they give you ones that don't require a gym or expensive equipment most of the time. I personally am not great about the whole exercise thing, but each month they have these amazing people who've lost weight and kept it off. They give their tips and basically their whole weight loss story, they're very insispring.0

Google "Bodyweight Exercise" for strength work. Search on youtube for cardio workouts.0

Oh - You can also google free memberships to gyms. Most offer at least a week free trial membership. I got a month long one from Bally's. And because they're trying to get you to sign, they often give you a free session with a trainer. You can get some ideas for non-gym workouts from them, too.0

I also agree with the bodyrock.tv recommendation but since I don't have as much equipment as she does, I have better luck with toneitup.tv - one of the bloggers put the workouts (with pictures and descriptions) on index cards so she can bring them with her to the gym, work, school, etc. I thought that was a great idea! lol0
