Starting this whole new thing today, I currently am a first year student trying to lose 60 pounds by June

CW: 190
GW: 130
Any advice? I also started Garcinia Cambognia 1500 today!

The garcinia didn't help me. I gave up on eating so many carbs and found my correct balance with the macros (carbs/fats/protein) to stay fuller and not craving things. Since I started that 5 months ago, I lost weight. Now I only have 6 more pounds to go. I didn't have much to lose, but the same thought process should be taken. Think about your nutrition and what makes you fuller for longer. You're still young so you should be able to get away with a bit more than myself (I'm 41).

Stop spending extra money on the Garcinia if it doesn't help you (after one or two months you should know if it helps). More than likely though, you changing the way and what you eat is going to affect things way more than the Garcinia.

Eat at a Caloric deficit, exercise helps, Garcinia Cambognia is worthless, and Dr. Oz is a joke.

    Good luck!

The first question that comes to my mind is what kind of meal plan you're on (if any).

Cafeterias provide challenges because, unless the school puts out the information, you don't always know how many calories are in the food, so you end up doing more guessing than if you're preparing your own food.

This was my question as well. If you're on a meal plan, find out who runs it: Chartwells, Aramark...then ask for nutrition information. Also the database here has a ton of Chartwells and other dorm supplier meals.

And yes, don't waste more money on the Garcinia.

    Good luck!

My schools meal plan is through Madison County and they provide nutrition facts when I ask for it. My mother and I did a lot of research with garcinia cambognia and decided that we will try it for 1 month and if its not working then stop it. Thank you every one for your opinions!

Drop the garcinia, eat in a calorie deficit, and know it will probably take longer than six months to lose the weight. I've been at this for a year and haven't hit 60 yet.

It's good that they'll provide you the data. That will help your calorie counting.

But now for my next question: What is the SCHEDULE like? I know some colleges only open their cafeterias for a few hours for each meal. The challenge with that is that you have to fight the urge to possibly eat more than your really need to just so you're confident you'll feel comfortable until you can get your next meal. I think part of the "freshman fifteen" comes from that feeling that you've got to eat what you can while you can.

Luckily for me, Tulane kept its cafeteria open from about 7 AM until 10 PM. The hot entrée lines would only be running around the main meal times, but you could always go in to get a burger, make a sandwich, or get something to eat while it was open.

Stop wasting your money and eat at a deficit. Additionally, why put a time frame on your loss? Make a life change and you're more likely to keep the weight off.

Record your food in the diary. Eat less than you are eating now. Those two things will help you.
Be serious about your health and take a serious attitude toward you life because you deserve good things.

Have realistic expectations. 60lb for 6 months is ambitious, especially when it comes to losing closer to your target weight and losses slow down.
